Kinetic DX electric scooter spotted testing in Pune
-
Design heavily inspired by the classic Kinetic DX 2-stroke scooter
-
Expected launch around August 2025
The electric version of the Kinetic DX has been spotted on test in Pune. The test mule looks pretty much similar to the scooter shown in patent images recently filed by Kinetic Watts and Volts, the EV division of the Kinetic Group. It also looks pretty well-finished, suggesting that a launch could be just around the corner.

Design
The scooter carries forward the classic boxy silhouette of the original Kinetic DX, but in a modernized avatar. It has a square-ish front apron, rectangular LED headlamp, triple-spoke wheels, and clean side panel lines. A faux flyscreen with the ‘KINETIC’ logo was seen in the patent images.
Motor & Battery
This electric scooter looks to be powered by a hub-mounted motor and the battery is expected to be located in the floorboard judging by its thickness. While we don’t know the official specs yet, it could have a range of around 100km - which is now the norm.

Underpinnings
The Kinetic DX is riding on 12-inch alloy wheels with MRF Zapper N tyres, and these are EV-specific tyres with low rolling resistance. It gets a telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers - the original had a trailing-link setup at the front and a single rear shock. Also seen is a front disc brake, rear drum brake, a box-section swingarm, and a single-piece pillion grab rail. All of these were present in the filed patent pics as well.
Name Trademark
We’ve also gotten our hands on the name trademark filings for the scooter, it could be available in a total of four variants: EX, ZX, DX, and DX+. The trademark for all the aforementioned variants were applied earlier this year. These variants would likely differentiate in terms of having a front drum or disc brake, and having an LCD or TFT screen for the console, apart from varying colour schemes and seat covers.

BikeDekho Says
We expect the launch could happen sometime around August, , with a price starting at around Rs 90,000 (ex-showroom). Kinetic hopes to pull in customers with nostalgia as the brand enjoyed popularity especially back in the 90s. However, now the brand aims to position the Kinetic DX as a family-oriented electric scooter which will appeal to a broader audience. Whether it has what it takes to go up against giants like the Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube, Ather Rizta and Ola S1X is something we’ll have to wait and see.
