Quick News Highlights:
-
Kinetic Watts and Volts Ltd. has filed design patent for upcoming electric scooter
-
Retro-inspired styling hints at a modern version of the iconic Kinetic DX
-
Likely to rival TVS iQube, Ather Rizta, Honda Activa e: and Vida V2
Kinetic’s new EV-focused subsidiary, Kinetic Watts and Volts Ltd., has filed a patent for a new electric scooter that bears striking resemblance to the legendary Kinetic DX. This will be the new subsidiary’s first product - an electric version of the DX, likely to be called the Kinetic DX Electric.
Design
The design patent, dated 4th March 2025 and recently published in the official journal, reveals a scooter with the unmistakable iconic styling of the DX. The overall silhouette, handlebar cowl, side panels, headlight design, and the three-spoke wheel look a lot like the original Kinetic DX scooter, but with modern touches. It could have LED lighting all around, with the horizontal ‘Y’ shaped elements next to the headlight most likely being the indicators.

Specifications
Although exact specifications are yet to be revealed, we can expect it to have a mid-mounted motor. The battery could be located under the seat, so storage space might not be as massive as say, the Ather Rizta. Expect the battery pack to be fixed - in line with all of its immediate rivals. We expect it to offer at least a triple-digit claimed range.
What’s also clearly visible from the patent image is a telescopic front fork, replacing the trailing link suspension of the old Kinetic scooter. Also very likely is that both the wheels will be 12-inches in diameter. A front disc brake is visible from the patent image as well.
Rivals

Once launched, the new Kinetic DX could rival other family oriented electric scooters like the TVS iQube, Ather Rizta, Honda Activa e: and Vida V2. The original Kinetic DX was known to be fairly affordable, making it one of the most popular family-oriented scooters back in the day. Now with tightening emission norms, it’s only natural for Kinetic to make use of the DX’s fame and bring out an electric version.
BikeDekho Says
With the design patent now officially filed, it's clear that Kinetic is preparing to re-enter the electric scooter market in a meaningful way. This follows the e-Luna (the electric version of the iconic moped). The e-Luna is more of a commercial (b2b) product, whereas the upcoming Kinetic DX electric scooter will be targeted to family scooter buyers. Expect the brand to launch the scooter in a couple of months, probably in August 2025.
