The classically styled bike is Kawasaki’s take on a British twin

Kawasaki Launches W800 Street Retro Motorcycle In India

  • It features a vertical parallel-twin engine, just like the old British twin-cylinder motorcycles.
  • The bikes will be brought to India as Semi-Knocked Down (SKD) kits.
  • Deliveries for the bike are set to begin from August onwards.

Kawasaki India has launched the W800 Street neo retro motorcycle at Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom India). With neo retro motorcycles gaining more followers in India, Kawasaki thought it was the best time to introduce its classically styled motorcycle to the Indian motorcyclist. Kawasaki did previously try its luck in this genre with the Z900RS but because of its astonishingly high asking price, it did not fare well in India. Thankfully, the W800 Street does not commit the same pricing folly of the Z900RS, it still comes bearing a price tag that's higher than the Triumph Street Twin (Rs 7.45 lakh, ex-showroom India).

It produces a humble 47PS and 62.9Nm. While the power output is nearly the same as the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, it has 10Nm more at its disposal.

Bookings for the bike have begun at all Kawasaki dealerships across the country with deliveries expected to start by mid-August 2019.
