Buying India’s most affordable bobber has just become even more feasible

[UPDATE: The Jawa Perak BS6 specifications have been updated. It is slightly torquier than before and you can read all about it here.]

Jawa finally began accepting bookings for its much-awaited Perak bobber earlier this month. If you’re keen to get your hands on one but don’t have a big pile of cash stashed away in the bank, you can now opt for Jawa’s financing schemes.

Prospective buyers can get the Perak with zero downpayment, or go for an EMI of just Rs 6,666 per month. Jawa is even offering an exchange program which it claims is the best in the industry: an offer of up to Rs 5,000 more for your old motorcycle than any other exchange scheme around.

Once you’ve made your booking, you can wake up every morning and check when your bike will arrive, because a delivery estimator for the Perak has also gone live on Jawa’s website. Delivery timeline details will be available online just 4 hours after a booking has been made. Deliveries of the Perak are expected to begin on April 2, 2020.

The Perak is priced at Rs 1.94 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), which is a substantial amount of money, so these schemes will definitely make ownership a little easier and help attract more buyers. Fortunately, it’s a BS6-compliant motorcycle, the first one from Jawa, so we don’t expect a price hike anytime soon.

The BS6 motor in question is a bored-out version of the 293cc single-cylinder mill seen on the Jawa and the Forty Two. As a result, the liquid-cooled DOHC engine now displaces 334cc and produces 30PS and 31Nm. But the most distinctive thing about the newest Jawa is of course its appearance. This being a bobber, it’s got a lovely floating single seat design and a neatly tucked away rear shock absorber. The ‘swinging cage’ swingarm design is quite similar to that seen on the Triumph Bonneville Bobber and makes this Jawa look almost like a hardtail.
