Key Specs of Jawa
YZF R15 V3
Our sources have revealed that Jawa is all set to launch the BS6-compliant Jawa and Jawa Forty Two soon. Since the motor is already BS6-ready, the brand will not have to make any substantial mechanical changes. Hence, the premium is expected to be marginal -- somewhere around Rs 4,000 to Rs 5,000 over the current BS4 model. For reference, the Jawa BS4 costs Rs 1,64,300 for the single-channel ABS variant and Rs 1,73,242 for the dual-channel ABS model. Both the variants are expected to be updated to BS6 norms. All said and done, there is no official confirmation from the brand yet.
As for the engine specifications, the BS6-compliant model is expected to make the same 27.3PS and 28Nm from the 293cc, fuel-injected, single-cylinder engine as before. This is considering the fact that the BS4-compliant Perak unveiled in 2018 and the BS6-compliant Perak launched in 2019 make the same amount of power and torque.
Apart from the BS6-compliant motor, the underpinnings of the motorcycles are likely to remain unchanged. The Jawa uses a telescopic fork and gas-charged shock absorbers at the rear with 5-step preload adjustability. Anchoring the bike is a disc brake up front and a rear drum or disc unit. Its 18-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels come wrapped in MRF Nylogrip tyres.
Jawa launched the classic Jawa and the Jawa Forty Two back in November 2018. Since then, the brand has managed to rack up innumerable orders and has bumped up production to keep up with the overwhelming response.
As for the bike, the Jawa looks pretty similar to the original bike from the ‘70s. Right from the horn, which is positioned between the front fork and the fuel filler cap, to the dome-shaped headlamp that extends to cover the front forks. You have easy-to reach handlebars, vintage-style fenders and an old-fashioned instrument console. The bike features the same nostalgic maroon paint scheme with chrome elements.
