Key Specs of Jawa
The BS6 Jawa has started reaching dealerships. It makes slightly less power and torque and has gained a little weight. Here are all the details along with the price list. Reports suggest Jawa could commence exports of its motorcycles to Europe by the end of 2020. Know more details here. Jawa launched the classic Jawa and the Jawa Forty-Two back in November 2018. Since then, the brand has managed to rack up innumerable orders and has bumped up production to keep up with the overwhelming response. The BS6-compliant versions of the Jawa and Jawa Forty-Two are Rs 5,000 to Rs 9,928 more expensive than before. Here's the complete price list of the BS6-compliant versions. As for the bike, the Jawa looks pretty similar to the original bike from the ‘70s. Right from the horn, which is positioned between the front fork and the fuel filler cap, to the dome-shaped headlamp that extends to cover the front forks. You have easy-to-reach handlebars, vintage-style fenders, and an old-fashioned instrument console. The bike features the same nostalgic maroon paint scheme with chrome elements. As for the engine specifications, the BS6-compliant model produces 26.51PS and 27.05Nm from the 293cc, fuel-injected, single-cylinder engine. It is 0.86PS and 0.95Nm less than the BS4 Jawa. Apart from the BS6-compliant motor, the underpinnings of the motorcycle have remained unchanged. The Jawa uses a telescopic fork and gas-charged shock absorbers at the rear with 5-step preload adjustability. Anchoring the bike is a disc brake up front and a rear drum or disc unit. Its 18-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels come wrapped in MRF Nylogrip tyres. Compared to the BS4 model, the kerb weight of the BS6-compliant bike has gone up by 2kg, at 172kg kerb.
The Jawa BS6 competes against the Royal Enfield Classic 350 BS6 and the Benelli Imperiale 400, which will be updated to comply with BS6 norms soon. In terms of pricing, the retro motorcycle competes with the KTM 250 Duke and the Dominar 400.
