Jawa has announced that both the Jawa 300 and Jawa 42 have been sold out till September 2019. Deliveries of the first lot are scheduled to start from March 2019. Classic Legends have also confirmed that it will offer the Jawa Jawa with a rear disc brake and dual-channel ABS option. It has priced the dual-channel ABS Jawa at Rs 1.73 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), which is a premium of Rs 8,942 over the single-channel ABS variant. Deliveries for the bike will begin after June 2019. Buyers who have already booked the single-channel ABS Jawa can opt for the rear disc dual-channel ABS option. However, their bikes will be delivered only after June 2019. Classic Legends has also announced that buyers can purchase Jawa motorcycles under an exchange scheme and will be able to choose from a variety of financiers for the same.
Jawa Motorcycles has made a comeback in India by launching three new motorcycles. The first model, which is simply called the Jawa, is priced at Rs 1.64 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The bike draws inspiration from the classic Jawa 350 but gets a touch of modernity. It gets a round headlamp up front which merges with the fork cover, a teardrop-type fuel tank, a single two-tone seat with a pillion strap and a simple yet sleek-looking grab rail. Additionally, the bike features an engine kill switch placed on the right-hand switchgear, polished alloy levers and round rearview mirrors for a classic appeal. Going by the positioning of the handlebar and footpegs, the bike is most likely to have a comfortable, upright riding posture.
Powering the Jawa is a 293cc, BSVI-compliant, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder motor that churns out 27PS of power and 28Nm of torque, working alongside a 6-speed gearbox. According to Jawa, the motorcycle has a flat torque curve with the meat of the power in its mid-range. Also, the twin exhausts have been tuned to sound like the classic Jawa.
The bike uses a double cradle frame and conventional front telescopic forks. Suspension setup at the rear consists of twin shock absorbers with 5-step preload adjustability. Anchoring the bike is a single 280mm front disc with single-channel ABS and a conventional 153mm rear drum brake. It gets 90/90-18 front and 120/80-17 rear MRF rubber. A low seat height of 765mm and a kerb weight of just 170kg should be a boon for short riders.
The Jawa is available in three different colours - black, maroon, and grey. Online bookings for the bike has already begun for an amount of Rs 5,000, while the deliveries are expected to commence in early 2019. It will compete against the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and the UM Renegade Classic
