Honda NX200 ADV: Just A Rebadged Honda CB200X Or Is There More To It?
It isn’t just a rebadge of the CB200X, there’s a bit more to it. We analyse:
Honda recently launched the NX200 in the Indian market. The NX200 replaces the CB200X in Honda’s motorcycle portfolio and costs Rs 17,049 more, at Rs 1,68,499 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
We explain why it isn’t just a rebadged version of the CB200X and that there’s more to it:
New OBD-2B Compliant Engine:
The NX200 is powered by the same 184.4cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine as the CB200X. However, this motor is now OBD-2B compliant. To know more about OBD-2B norms, check our explainer here.
Apart from adhering to more stringent norms, the engine is also 0.1PS less powerful and 0.2Nm torquier than earlier, with 17.1PS and 15.9Nm on tap. The 5-speed gearbox with slip-assist clutch is retained.
New 4.2-inch TFT Display:
The NX200 now gets a 4.2-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, replacing the full-LCD instrument cluster. Apart from showing speed, odometer, tripmeter readings, clock, gear position and fuel level, it also gets new features like turn-by-turn navigation, call and SMS alerts and notifications through the Honda’s RoadSync app. The bike also gets an USB Type-C charging port for added convenience.
Dual-Channel ABS:
Honda’s previous iteration of NX200, the CB200X, came equipped with a single-channel ABS. But now, the 276mm front disc and 220mm rear disc are enhanced with dual channel ABS as standard for better safety. This setup prevents both front and rear wheel from locking while braking aggressively.
Traction Control System:
The NX200 is a road-biased adventure motorcycle but it is capable of mild off-roading too. The NX200 now gets a simple traction control system that will cut-off power from the rear wheel as soon as wheel-slip is detected. This may not be necessary on such a small capacity bike, but is more of a value addition that tries to justify the rebranding to a certain extent.

With these new updates, the NX200 has now become more feature-rich and safer for the premium it commands, making it a slightly better overall package than before. However, Honda could’ve offered more practical updates such as a larger 19-inch front alloy wheel, a slightly longer travel suspension with greater ground clearance, and perhaps a larger fuel tank. This would’ve ensured the NX200 is a lot more capable than its predecessor, the CB200X, and would’ve been more worthy of living up to the ‘NX’ badge’s reputation.
