Harley-Davidson and Hero MotoCorp collaborated to develop a smaller and more approachable bike, the Harley-Davidson X440. If you’re a Harley Davidson fan looking to buy one, this is the best time as Harley Davidson is running a discount of Rs 15,000 on the X440’s Vivid variant for a limited period - till August 15. This means the X440 Vivid variant which was priced at Rs 2,59,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi) will now be available at Rs 2,44,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). 

Talking about the Harley Davidson X440, the design is inspired from its elder sibling, the Harley-Davidson XR1200. Overall, the muscular roadster has a flowy design with an attractive looking front-end. While the design of the rear end could have been better as it looks slightly odd, and the exhaust design is a bit of an eye sore. The simple and straight exhaust helps the single-cylinder engine sound like the bigger Harley bikes, as claimed by the company.

The Harley Davidson X440 is powered by a single-cylinder oil-cooled 440cc engine, producing 27.4PS at 6000rpm & 38Nm at 4000rpm. It delivers maximum torque in the low RPM range, however, it carries it well in the mid-range and is rather confident while cruising at triple-digit speeds. It is paired with a smooth 6-speed transmission and also comes with a slip-and-assist clutch for easy shifting.

The bike is equipped with a 43mm KYB inverted fork on the front and has gas-charged, preload-adjustable twin shock absorbers at the rear making the bike surprisingly comfortable and confidence-inspiring even while riding on bad roads. Its braking department is taken care of by 320mm front and 240mm rear ByBre disc brakes with dual-channel ABS that do a pretty good job.

The Harley Davidson X440 is available in 3 variants: 

• Denim, entry-level variant, priced at Rs 2,39,500 (ex-showroom Delhi), comes in Mustard Denim colour, spoke wheels with tube tyres, and stickered logos to reduce costs. 

• The mid-variant Vivid is currently offered at a discount, priced at Rs 2,59,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi) it is currently priced at Rs 2,44,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is offered in Metallic Thick Red and Metallic Dark Silver colours, it has alloy wheels, and tubeless tyres, making it the best value for money in the X440 range.

• The top-spec S variant, priced at Rs 2,79,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi), comes in Matte Black colour with diamond-cut alloy wheels, built-in LTE connectivity, geofencing, and remote immobilisation.

It rivals the likes of the recently launched Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450, Triumph Speed 400, Honda H'ness CB350, Yezdi Roadster and Jawa 42. Having said that, after the Rs 15,000 discount the Harley Davidson X440’s Vivid variant is an absolute bang for the buck for everything it offers.
