Get Ready For A 300cc TVS Apache RTR Streetfighter
The TVS Apache RTR 310 has been spied once again
This rainy season is turning out to be riddled with hot news in the auto industry, and the latest addition to that is a new spy shot of the TVS Apache RTR 310. The upcoming naked bike, based on the TVS Apache RR 310, has been spied again, and it looks fairly production-ready.
Interestingly, a concept prototype of RTR 310 was spied once recently, and the newly spied bike looks like a pretty sporty streetfighter. It gets quite an aggressive fuel tank shape and tank extensions that extend frontwards. Accentuating the sporty appeal is the twin LED headlight setup which is quite similar to that of the Apache RR 310. However, while the design is similar, the unit on the naked will not be as big and bulky as the one seen on the Apache RTR 310. And with that, no, it does not seem to be a rebadged BMW G 310 R.
At the rear, it gets a vertical twin LED headlight, which too looks quite fascinating. Complementing that, is the clean and compact rear section of the bike which features a tyre hugger, with turn indicators mounted on top of it, which too are LED. While the earlier spied prototype featured a single-piece seat, the new one features a sporty split seat setup.
From the looks of it, the RTR 310 seems to be running on the same steel trellis frame as its faired sibling. In the previous prototype spy shot, it featured a USD fork and monoshock suspension setup. From the looks of it, the test mule seems to be running the Michelin Road Five tyres, same rubbers fitted on the Apache RR 310.
Oh, and of course, the engine will be the same 312.7cc reverse-inclined single-cylinder engine found in the BMW G 310 R, G 310 RR, G 310 GS, and TVS Apache RR 310. It could also make the figures – 34PS and 27.3Nm, paired with a bunch of ride modes.
The last thing we could spot from the spy shot was that, unlike the faired sibling’s vertical digital console, the Apache RTR 310 comes equipped with a horizontal unit.
Now, while the test mule looks pretty production ready, we think that TVS could take some time and launch the bike by late 2023 or early 2024. Expect it to have a lower price tag of around Rs 2.5 lakh (ex-showroom), than its rivals like the KTM 390 Duke, BMW G 310 R, and Honda CB300R. However, with the introduction of the Triumph Speed 400 in India at an affordable price tag of Rs 2.33 lakh, ex-showroom, it will be interesting to see where TVS positions this bike. Especially considering that the next-gen KTM 390 Duke would probably have already been launched by the time RTR 310 debuts.
