A closer look at the new top-of-the-line variant of the popular commuter
The Hero Splendor is a household name, and last week the company introduced a new top-of-the-line variant with the Splendor Plus XTec. Here’s a closer look at the most feature-loaded Splendor launched yet:
The Hero Splendor Plus XTec doesn’t flaunt any major styling changes, and retains its iconic design. However, the bikemaker has introduced four new colours, and this particular paint scheme is called the Canvas Black.
Yes, you get the same square halogen headlight as we seen on the previous models, but what’s different here is the LED DRL bar above it. This is unique to the XTec variant and makes it stand out from the other trims.
This is the only motorcycle in its segment currently to feature a fully digital instrument console. The cluster now even flaunts Bluetooth connectivity with call and SMS alerts. Furthermore, there’s real-time fuel efficiency, two trip meters and an odometer on offer too.
Hero MotoCorp has given this commuter its i3S technology, with which the bike automatically shuts if it idles for too long. To bring it back to life, all you need to do is pull the clutch.
The Hero Splendor Plus XTec now also features a side-stand engine cutoff. So, if you put in gear while the side stand is engaged, the sensor kills the engine power. There’s even a bank sensor on this commuter now, which shuts off the engine in the event of a crash.
The Hero Splendor Plus XTec continues to use the trusty 97.2 cc single-cylinder engine producing 8.02PS and 8.05Nm. Even the four-speed gearbox remains unchanged.
The top variant of the Splendor Plus XTec features the same telescopic fork and dual shocks seen on other trims. Even the 130mm drum brakes are common across all the bikes of the Splendor Plus lineup.
The Hero Splendor Plus XTec has been priced at Rs 72,900 (ex-showroom Delhi), making it Rs 2,200 more expensive than the i3s variant and Rs 1166 more than the TVS Radeon. It even competes with the TVS Sport, Honda CD 110 Dream and the Bajaj CT110.
