Hero has launched the Xtec variant of its iconic Splendor Plus and it now packs quite a few segment-first features. Priced at Rs 72,900 (ex-showroom Delhi), the just-launched variant is Rs 2,200 dearer than the standard variant with self start and i3S technology. Here’s a lowdown into what India’s highest selling bike gets in its latest iteration:
The Splendor Plus now comes with a fully digital instrument cluster, a segment-first in the 100cc club. The console comes with bluetooth connectivity, call and SMS alert, dual tripmeters, mileage indicator, low fuel indicator. It also gets an LED DRL along with four new colour schemes: Sparkling Beta Blue, Canvas Black, Tornado Grey and Pearl White.
Adding to the features list, this variant also gets Hero’s trademark i3S technology (Idle Stop-Start System) along with a new integrated USB charger and a side-stand engine cut-off feature. Hero has also equipped it with a Bank-angle-sensor that cuts-off the engine during a fall.
That said, powering the bike is the same 97.2cc engine making 8.02PS and 8.05Nm, linked to a four-speed gearbox. Underpinnings, including the telescopic forks, rear shock absorbers and 130mm drum brakes remain the same too.
To sum up, Hero has offered quite a few practical features for the small premium, enhancing the value for money factor. Its arch nemesis, the TVS Radeon costs just Rs 1,166 more but offers a more powerful 110cc engine, not to mention a front disc brake. It may not be as tech-savvy as the Splendor, though. Other rivals include the Honda CD 110 Dream, Bajaj CT110 and the TVS Sport.
