Honda SP125: Variants Explained
Find out if paying the extra Rs 7,000 is worth it for the top variant of the SP125

The Honda SP125 has been a steady seller in the 125cc space for years now. Honda built this bike around a simple idea: a commuter bike that doesn't feel boring to ride. It comes in two variants, STD and DLX, and the difference between them isn't huge, but it does change how the bike behaves in a couple of situations that matter.
What’s Different

The standard variant gets you a drum brake upfront. Honestly, that works fine in everyday, low-speed riding, but a disc brake bites harder and stops better. The DLX gets that disc, and it's the more meaningful change of the two. For a closer look at what each trim brings to the table, check out our complete features explained story

The console gap matters less for outright function and more for how you read information at a glance. The STD's fully digital display gives you the basics clearly enough. The DLX gets a TFT screen, which looks more modern and gives the bike a slightly more premium feel.
What Stays The Same

Everything else on the SP125 stays the same across both variants. Both get the same 123.94cc engine and a 5-speed gearbox, so performance remains unchanged. Suspension and tyre sizes are identical too, while the rear brake stays a 130mm drum on both. The dimensions are also the same, with just a 1kg difference in kerb weight. Both get a 12V 5.0Ah battery, an LED headlamp and the same five colour options.
Which One To Buy

If you mostly ride in slow city traffic and rarely need to brake hard, the STD covers the basics well and costs less. But the disc brake on the DLX adds a useful safety margin, and for around Rs 7,500 more, it's a sensible step up for most riders. Also, the TFT screen is a nice bonus on top, but the brake is the more meaningful reason to consider the DLX.

- Excellent bike with outstanding milageI was looking for a 125cc bike, upon reaching finalized to 2 options sp125 and TVS raider. Raider was sportier and done a test drive for both. I previously owned a TVS jupiter, service of TVS was pathetic. Finally concluded to buy sp125. Excellent mileage getting around 79 to 81 mixed driving condition city and highway. Drive around 100 to 150km per day. Only issue I faced is the seat, It's not comfortable. I have driven many scooter's/bike's and it's the worst seat of all. I would definitely recommend this bike if you are looking for a bike with excellent mileage. It's a 125cc bike, if you drive accordingly to that you can squeeze more mileage out of it. If you drive aggressively don't expect mileage. You have to modify the seat or any alternative arrangements to make the drive more comfortable.Read More33 10
