Honda SP125 Base Variant: All You Need To Know
Honda's base SP125 misses out on Bluetooth and a disc brake, but it doesn't skip on the essentials

The Honda SP125 is one of India's popular 125cc commuters, sold in two variants: STD and DLX. The DLX brings some extra tech and a sharper-stopping front disc brake, but the STD isn't short on substance either. Here's what it actually gets you:
Price & Positioning

The Honda SP 125 drum variant costs Rs 89,279 (ex-showroom Delhi). Both variants share the same 123.94cc engine, which gives you almost identical smooth performance. The rest of the core chassis and setup also stay identical, making sure you get the same reliable ride quality regardless of which option you choose. But the STD does miss out on a few features offered on the higher variants, such as the 4.2-inch TFT console with smartphone connectivity for turn-by-turn navigation, etc.
Design & Styling

The STD carries the same sporty design as the DLX, featuring a sharp LED headlamp, aggressive tank shrouds, a short, upswept exhaust, and Y-shaped alloy wheels. You get a slim, M-shaped LED taillight that complements the bike’s overall personality. That said, both variants get the same five colour options: Pearl Igneous Black, Matt Axis Grey Metallic, Pearl Siren Blue, Imperial Red Metallic, and Matt Marvel Blue Metallic. Our pick is the Matt Marvel Blue Metallic, since the shade itself is easy on the eye and the body graphics on it aren't too jarring.
Features

The STD variant may have a basic digital LCD console, but it doesn't miss out on the essentials. It gets a 15W USB-C charging port, an idle start-stop system that helps save fuel in stop-and-go traffic, and an integrated pass-light switch. These features are carried over unchanged to the DLX variant as well.
Safety & Hardware

The SP125 standard uses 130mm drum brakes at both ends, backed by a combined braking system. The DLX, on the other hand, gets a 240mm front disc while keeping a drum at the rear. Both get a side-stand engine cut-off as standard, and the weight difference is negligible: the drum version weighs 116kg against the Deluxe’s 117kg. Both variants share identical chassis hardware underneath. You get a diamond-type frame, the telescopic fork, a 5-step preload-adjustable twin rear shock, and alloy wheels wrapped in tubeless tyres.
Engine & Performance

Power comes from the same 123.94cc, air-cooled, fuel-injected single-cylinder engine. It makes 10.87PS and 10.9Nm of torque, sent through a 5-speed gearbox.
In our real-world testing, it returned 63.8kmpl in mixed use, and with an 11-litre tank, that's a range of around 600km on a full tank. Pretty good for a 125cc bike, we’d say!
BikeDekho Says

The Standard makes sense if the DLX's colour TFT console, Bluetooth connectivity, and disc brake aren't dealbreakers for you. Everything else- the engine, chassis, comfort, and ride quality- is identical between the two. If you do want that extra tech and sharper braking, the DLX is worth paying extra for, and that’s what we would recommend, especially for better safety.

- Excellent bike with outstanding milageI was looking for a 125cc bike, upon reaching finalized to 2 options sp125 and TVS raider. Raider was sportier and done a test drive for both. I previously owned a TVS jupiter, service of TVS was pathetic. Finally concluded to buy sp125. Excellent mileage getting around 79 to 81 mixed driving condition city and highway. Drive around 100 to 150km per day. Only issue I faced is the seat, It's not comfortable. I have driven many scooter's/bike's and it's the worst seat of all. I would definitely recommend this bike if you are looking for a bike with excellent mileage. It's a 125cc bike, if you drive accordingly to that you can squeeze more mileage out of it. If you drive aggressively don't expect mileage. You have to modify the seat or any alternative arrangements to make the drive more comfortable.Read More20 10
