Ather Konarc S vs Vida VX2 Plus 4.4 kWh: Price Comparison

The all-new Ather Konarc was recently launched in India at a starting price of Rs 99,999 (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is the brand’s first product based on the all-new EL-01 platform and gets a new design, underpinnings, and loads of new features. Here’s how its 3.5 kWh variant compares to the Vida VX2 Plus 4.4 kWh variant.

The Ather Konarc S 161 km is Rs 3,001 cheaper than the VIDA VX2 Plus 4.4 kWh.

Ather Konarc S 161 km 

The Ather Konarc gets an all-new design, with a conventional-looking handlebar-mounted LED headlight, a long single-piece seat and, most importantly, metal body panels, a first for any Ather scooter. Overall, the scooter has a contemporary design compared to the more modern-looking Vida VX2 Plus, and it also has a pillion backrest for additional pillion comfort.

Ather Konarc is available in four colour options: Quartz White/Blue, Majestic Grey/Black, Celestial Gold/Blue, and Lumen Copper/Black.

The Ather Scooter makes 4.7 kW, 16 Nm (both peak) and has a 3.5 kWh battery pack. The scooter gets a claimed IDC (Indian Driving Cycle) range of 161 km along with a claimed top speed of 70 kmph.

The Konarc is equipped with a 14-inch front wheel, which should give it better stability while dealing with rough roads. The scooter also gets a Showa telescopic fork and a monoshock, along with a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear. The scooter gets a decent 31-litre underseat storage along with a small cubby hole on the apron.

In terms of features, the Konarc gets a 7-inch LCD console with Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, and call/SMS alerts. The Konarc S 161 km variant also comes equipped with AtherStack Pro, which enables features like music controls, over-the-air software updates, reverse mode, hill hold, Find My Scooter, and more connected features such as walk mode, find my vehicle, and theft alerts. 

VIDA VX2 Plus 4.4 kWh

The VIDA VX2 Plus 4.4 kWh gets a more modern-looking design with an apron-mounted LED headlight with integrated LED DRLs. The scooter also gets diamond-cut alloy wheels, a flat seat and sleek-looking body panels. Unlike the Konarc, however, the body panels of the VX2 are made of fibreglass. The VX2 too gets a pillion backrest for additional comfort.

The VX2 Plus is available in seven colour options: Matte Giallo Lime, Nexus Blue, Matt Inspired White, Pearl Red, Pearl Black, Autumn Orange and Metallic Matt Gun Metal Grey.

The Vida scooter makes 6 kW, and26 Nm, paired with a larger 4.4 kWh removable battery pack. The VX2 gets a claimed IDC range of 184 km, which is 23 km more than the Konarc. The scooter also gets a higher claimed top speed of 90 kmph, 20 kmph more than the Ather.

In terms of underpinnings, the VX2 Plus rides on 12-inch alloy wheels at both ends, along with a telescopic fork and a monoshock. It also gets a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear. As for storage, it gets a 27.2-litre underseat storage along with a small cubby on the apron.

In terms of features, the VX2 gets a more modern 4.3-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, call/SMS alerts, and more. The scooter also gets features like hill hold assist and reverse mode, along with other connected features like Find My Scooter, geofencing, and live vehicle stats, similar to the Ather Konarc.

On paper, the VIDA VX2 Plus has an advantage in terms of performance and range. It gets a larger 4.4 kWh battery pack, a claimed IDC range of 184 km and a 90 kmph top speed, which is 20 kmph higher than the Konarc. It also gets a more powerful 6 kW motor, which should make it a more capable scooter out on the highway.

The Ather Konarc, on the other hand, has an advantage in terms of hardware. It gets metal body panels and a larger 14-inch front wheel, which should make it more stable and comfortable over bad roads. 

Overall, the Vida just makes more sense. For a slight premium, you not only get more range, a higher top speed, and a more powerful motor, but also a premium-looking TFT console. 

The VX2 also gets the added flexibility of a removable battery pack, which you can charge at home if you don't have access to a charging point near your parking. All these points add up in favour of the VX2 Plus and make it our go-to choice of the two scooters.
