Honda Shine 125 Disc: Detailed Explainer

Honda Shine 125 Disc variant has a smooth & reliable engine and now with enhanced braking power

The Honda Shine 125 is one the most popular commuter bikes you can buy today. It has two variants, Drum & Disc. Both have a 123.94 cc engine which is buttery smooth for its segment and also has a good fuel mileage. It is priced at Rs 87,081 (ex-showroom). Below is a full breakdown of what Honda offers for the Disc variant of the Shine 125:

Design & Styling

The Shine 125 Disc has the daily commuter styling with a few highlights: chrome front visor, chrome side covers, and chrome exhaust cover. The decent amount of chrome used on the bike makes it more appealing and stands out. It comes in six colour options: Decent Blue Metallic, Matte Axis Gray Metallic, Pearl Siren Blue, Pearl Igneous Black, Rebel Red Metallic, and Geny Grey Metallic.

Features

Honda gave a decent set of practical features on this bike, here is a full list:

  • A fully digital instrument console shows information such as live mileage indicator, average mileage tracking, range, service reminders, gear position display, digital clock, fuel level monitoring, and an eco-indicator at a glance

  • An Idling Stop System to save fuel during brief stops

  • A 15W USB-C charging port

  • A 3-year or 42,000km warranty, whichever comes first

Safety & Hardware

Now this is where the Disc variant pulls ahead. Braking duties are handled by a 240 mm front disc brake and 130 mm rear drum brake. It comes with CBS (Combi Brake System) that distributes brake force across both the wheels when your foot slams the rear brake pedal. The suspension setup is conventional, with front telescopic fork and dual rear shock absorbers. And lastly, it also gets a side-stand engine cut-off feature.

Engine & Performance

Powering the bike is a buttery smooth 123.94 cc, engine, with a 5-speed gearbox. It has self- and kick-start ignition. It produces 10.78 PS at 7,500 rpm and 11 Nm at 6,000 rpm.

BikeDekho Says

Honda's Shine 125 Disc adds practical upgrades over the Drum variant. The 240mm front disc and USB-C charging port are standard, and for almost Rs 4,300 more over the Drum variant, we think the Disc variant is worth it.
