The FZ-25 seems like a tempting option after its recent price reduction, but what else could you buy for around the same price?

Yamaha recently slashed the price for its FZ-25 range in a bit to improve dwindling sales. The 250cc bike now comes at a starting price of Rs 1.34 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), making it a tempting option if you’re looking for a city commuter. But what if you're still not convinced with the idea of shelling out well over a lakh on a bike that’s pretty poor on the features front? Well, in that case, you could have a look at these options:

Aprilia SXR 160 -  1,27,384

First up is Aprilia’s maxi-style scooter, the SXR 160. It isn’t a bike, but it offers the practicality of a scooter -- something most Indian households require. It’s one of the most refined and comfortable scooters from the Italian brand, with a decent amount of storage space. The motor, though small compared to the current list of two-wheelers, packs a decent amount of performance for everyday use and occasional highway runs. The SXR makes sense if you’re looking for a premium, practical scooter. More on the scooter here.

Bullet 350 X Kick Start - Rs 1,34,347

Some of you Royal Enfield followers could choose the tried and tested Bullet 350 X, the company’s entry-level offering. For about the same price as the FZ-25, you could get yourself a pure classic with a torquey 350cc motor, comfortable ergos and a ticket for RE’s cult following.

TVS Apache RTR 200 4V - Rs 1,34,365

The 2021 Apache RTR 200 4V is simply a no-brainer at this price point. It’s the most feature-packed two-wheeler here, with an equipment list that’s second to none. The latest update for the RTR brought with it a preload-adjustable fork, adjustable brake and clutch levers and ride modes. You can’t possibly ask for more for this price. Besides, its 197.75cc motor is still the smoothest we’ve ridden in this segment. Here’s what we thought of the 2021 model overall

Bajaj Pulsar NS200 - Rs 1,35,226

The Pulsar NS200, despite being a decade-old design, has been fending off rising competition quite successfully. The peaky motor still has character and benefits from a 6-speed transmission -- something the FZ-25 misses out on. Besides, it still holds its own in the twisties. The NS200 is the perfect pick for enthusiasts who like their bikes sporty and a bit raw. How does it fare in 2021? Head here to find out.

Yamaha MT-15 - Rs 1,40,900

Yamaha’s own backyard has yet another offering around the same price tag. The sportier MT-15 has a lot going for it, from its proven deltabox frame and VVA-equipped 155cc liquid-cooled motor to its alien-esque headlight that’s admired by all. It’s more comfortable out on the highway thanks to its 6-speed transmission and rev-happy engine that can sit comfortably at triple-digit speeds for extended periods. Feature-wise, the bike gets dual-channel ABS, a rear radial tyre, an informative console, and a slipper clutch. All this for a small premium of just Rs 1,600 more than the FZ. Worth considering, right?
