Riding safely and responsibly is the first duty of every individual who rides a two-wheeler. However, sometimes even without being on the fault, one can get in trouble as the roads are full of insensible people who do not follo the basic rules in one way or the other. In that case, instead of arguing with your opponent, it’s better to keep a backup plan in your mind so that you never face any difficulty in cases when your bike bites the dust.

Case 1: Riding Alone

Many of us must have felt the serenity and peace of mind our bike delivers when we take it for a solo ride. But accidents don’t happen with a prior notice. Suppose you are riding on a stretch or a subway and you encounter a component failure in your bike, then what you will do? The answer is simple. Instead of trying to be an expert and ride with a malfunctioning bike, call someone from your friends or a member from a roadside assistance service who can guide you till your home or get your bike transported in a pick-up truck, if the situation is even worse.

Case 2: Hit and Run

Hit and Runs are the worst cases if seen from the viewpoint of riders. No matter who falls on the faultier side, it is the motorcyclist only who has to suffer the most. Sometimes, crazy drivers appear from nowhere and hit the rider. Making things even worse, they even don’t stop to see if the person is alright or not. On the contrary, they just zoom off in order to avoid the circumstances he or she has to face being guilty. The rider on the other hand, first sees if he is in his sense after coming out of what just happened. In such cases, we advise you to see the number plate of the vehicle and note down its registration number. Since this does not seem possible in most of the cases, you can tell your fellow riders to follow the other bike and get the details for you. After receiving the details, get a complaint lodged in the nearest police station and see the other person getting screwed up for his mistake.

Case 3: Major Collision

Four-wheelers seem to dominate those on two-wheels sometimes by hitting them and this can result major damages and even loss of lives. In such cases, when you are hit by a four-wheeler or any bigger vehicle, first ensure yourself that you are on the safer side and are not badly hurt. If this isn’t the case, call an ambulance by dialling 108 and get the required treatment. If the accident is blocking the road, then without any delay, clear up the road by parking your vehicle on the side. After that, take the necessary pictures of both the vehicles and call the nearest police station for further investigation and to clear up the matter. Till the police arrives, do not speak to the other motorist as this might lead to complications. After the police officials arrive at the spot, explain them the whole situation, but the most important thing is not to lose your temper. Always remember, in such cases, that not remaining cool can make you come across with a negative thought, which eventually will turn out to be of no use to you.

4. Parking

Even the parking lots can prove a space for accidents sometimes. Yes, it is strange but true. A few little mistakes can get your bike tip over and you are left with nothing but some  injuries. For your own convenience and safety, avoid parking your vehicle in open spaces, whether it is a parking lot or it is an open road or a street. Secondly, fresh tyres come with a very thin film on their surface which might get your bike slip if pushed hard. So, control the biking freak in you for a few kilometres till the tyres roll with their original grip.

DO’s:

  • Always wear a helmet and proper riding gear to prevent injuries.
  • Get your bike loaded with the necessary First Aid Kits all the time.
  • Always keep the tool kit handy as this can also prove beneficial sometimes while component malfunctioning.
  • Keep a xerox downsized copy of your vehicle registration documents, your driving licence and an identity with your name, blood group, address, etc written on it. This helps a lot under extreme emergencies.

DON’T’s:

  • Keep yourself calm and cool as losing your temper will make you fall in undesirable conditions.
  • Do not argue with the other person till the police officials reach the spot to avoid chaos and unnecessary fights.
