This 250cc motorcycle costs twice as much as the Yamaha FZ25!

Yamaha motorcycles enjoy a huge fan following in the Indonesian market. To expand its portfolio, the Japanese two-wheeler giant has launched the MT-25. It carries the Yamaha MT-09 colours and looks similar to the Yamaha MT-03 launched in the European market.

On the feature front, the MT-25 gets an all-LED headlight with DRLs and a fully digital instrument cluster that displays the speed, gear position indicator, rpm, fuel level, and other necessary details. The Yamaha MT-25 is available in three colours -- Matte Grey, Metallic Black, and Metallic Blue. Also Read: Yamaha R15 V3.0 Gets New Colours.

Powering the MT-25 is a liquid-cooled, parallel-twin 250cc engine that makes 36PS at 12,000rpm and 23.6Nm at 10,000rpm. It’s mated to a 6-speed gearbox. For reference, the Yamaha FZ 25 is powered by a 249cc, single-cylinder motor that makes 20.8PS and 20.1Nm. Suspension duties on the MT-25 are handled by a USD fork and a monoshock at the rear. Anchoring the quarter-litre naked is a 298mm disc and a 220mm disc setup with dual-channel ABS as standard.

Yamaha Indonesia has priced the 2021 MT-25 at IDR 55,460,000 (approximately Rs 2.87 lakh). The chances of Yamaha launching the MT-25 in India are way too slim, considering it would have to be a CKD offering and carry a premium price tag. Moreover, it already has the Yamaha FZ25 on sale. However, we expect Yamaha India to launch the updated R3 soon. From Yamaha India’s latest BS6 offerings, we recently rode the RayZR 125 and the Fascino 125.
