Yamaha Aerox 155 Launch Soon, Homologated For India

The scooter shares its engine with the Yamaha R15 V3, but in a different state of tune

The scooter shares its engine with the Yamaha R15 V3, but in a different state of tune

  • India-spec model to produce 14.95PS.
  • Could be launched in India as a CKD product.
  • Likely to be launched by the end of this year.

Yamaha stunned the Indian market by introducing micro-hybrid technology in the Fascino 125 Hybrid and the soon-to-be-launched Ray-ZR 125 Hybrid. Now, a leaked type approval document suggests that the Japanese manufacturer will introduce the Aerox 155 in our market to take on the Aprilia SR160.

The Yamaha Aerox 155 uses the same liquid-cooled 155cc single-cylinder engine from the Yamaha R15 V3. However, instead of producing 18.6PS, the engine has been detuned to belt out 14.95PS. Interestingly, this is slightly less than the 15.3PS on the Indonesian model. The torque figure for the India-spec model hasn’t been revealed yet. For reference, the Indonesian model makes 13.9Nm, and we expect it to be slightly lower for our market. This is likely due to the stringent emission norms in India.

BREAKING: Yamaha MT-15 MotoGP Edition Launched In India

EXCLUSIVE: 2021 Yamaha Fascino 125 Hybrid: Road Test Review

The Aerox is built on the same platform as the Yamaha NMax 155 and rides on 14-inch wheels. For braking, Yamaha has deployed a disc at the front and a drum at the rear, while a telescopic fork and dual rear shocks handle the suspension duties.

The aggressive styling of the Yamaha Aerox 155 is likely to appeal more to young riders. This scooter comes with a fully digital instrument console and even features bluetooth connectivity via the Y-Connect app similar to the Yamaha FZ-X. Plus, there’s a MotoGP colours edition too, just like the one recently launched on the MT-15.

The Yamaha Aerox 155 could make its debut in India by the end of this year. Interestingly, the type approval document mentions Yamaha Indonesia as the engine manufacturer. This means that the scooter is likely to come to India via the CKD route, which could push its pricing to an estimated Rs 1.25 lakh (ex-showroom). At this price, it would be over Rs 15,000 more expensive than the Aprilia SR 160, but it will lure you with its performance and additional features.

Good scooty with lots of flaws to be corrected

Because of its performance. It looks good. It has a good pickup and the balance is also very good. The agility is also decent. And the engine is super refined. And it stands out in its competition easily. I have a mixed experience with this bike. The battery got dead in just 6000 km. I had to replace the battery. The issue with the rear rim was the worst. The socket in which the rim fits it got loose and when i went to the service centre, they didn't come up with the solution. The front suspension is so hard that you can't even take small pots on the road. And the fit and finish can be much better. The rear break is week. If the road condition is very good and millage is not an issue and someone who wants a scooter which can deliver power and has a good road presence can consider it. But personally I would not purchase again this scooter.Read More

Yamaha Aerox dashing review.

I choose this because of the muscular looks and the bulkiness. I love the muscular looks specially this Yamaha Aerox. And the feel when you ride this giant scooter on road everyone see this like how a scooter looks like this muscular. Ride is comfortable and smooth braking system. And specially the disc is so much good that you just put your fingers on the brake and it stop immediately. And the comfortness of the back rider is also good. Yes who need a muscular body type scooty obviously go for it blind foldy. You get a smooth experience when your ride it on road. And the boot space is also huge you can store many things including helmet also.Read More
