Engine update aside here’s what else TVS Apache RTR 160 2V BS6 offers for 2020

TVS’ BS6 lineup just got a lot greener with the introduction of the updated Apache RTR 160 2V. For 2020, the TVS Apache RTR 160 2V BS6 gets a couple of extra features, minor cosmetic updates, and a reworked engine. Here’s everything you need to know about the bike.

Cosmetic Changes:

There’s isn’t much to talk about there. The aesthetics of the bike have improved to some extent thanks to new graphics. Besides this, the bike remains cosmetically unchanged. There is, however, a new Gloss Red colour that’s been added to the existing colour palette.

New Features:

Just like the BS6 Apache RTR 160 and RTR 200, the Apache RTR 160 2V now features Glide Through Technology (GTT). Simply put, GTT can be considered a torque assist system, which automatically increases engine torque when you pace yourselves in low speeds in city traffic.

More Power Than Before?

The bike is powered by a 159.7cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine, which produces 15.53PS at 8400rpm and 13.9Nm at 7000rpm -- that’s 0.42PS and 0.87Nm more than the BS4 model. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed transmission.

Same Underpinnings?

Nothing’s changed here. The Apache RTR 160 2V BS6 carries over the suspension and braking setup from the BS4 model. This includes a telescopic fork, a twin shock setup at the rear, and petal discs at both ends paired with single-channel ABS.

The Price Difference

The TVS Apache RTR 160 2V BS6 is priced at Rs 93,500 and Rs 96,500 for the front disc and rear disc models. They carry a premium of Rs 5,722 and 5,643 over their respective BS4 counterparts. In terms of competition, the bike goes up against the Honda Xblade and the Bajaj Pulsar 150.
