The fully-faired version of the G 310 R seems to have been inspired by the S 1000 RR-based HP4 Race and gets a tonne of carbon-fibre

BMW Motorrad has unveiled what looks like a fully-faired Supersport version of its entry-level street naked, the G 310 R, in Japan. The G 310 RR Supersport seems to have been inspired by the limited edition, track-spec HP4 Race which was launched in India earlier this year. Like the litre-class track monster, the G 310 RR gets carbon-fibre body panels and ‘RR’ stickers on the fairing. Although details are scarce, here’s what we can make out from the images of the motorcycle that was recently showcased at the BMW Motorrad Days in Japan.

Apart from the carbon-fibre body panels, other noteworthy features include the split face with twin faux headlamps, a race-style windscreen and the massive ram air intake that funnels air into the engine for better performance. The fairing draws inspiration from BMW’s asymmetrical design language with shark gill-like vents on one side and a massive air scoop on the other.

While the front looks sharp and aggressive, the midsection looks relatively soft. However, it doesn’t look odd in any way and it gels well with the overall design of the motorcycle. Look closely and you’ll notice that even the engine cover, swingarm and trellis frame get carbon-fibre cladding. Since it’s a Supersport, the G 310 RR features track-oriented clip-on handlebars and an exhaust can that now runs below the tail section instead of the conventional side-mounted one.

While the G 310 gets the looks of a Supersport, the mechanicals seem to be largely unchanged. The track-spec motorcycle seems to employ the same 313cc, single-cylinder engine that puts out 34PS of power and 28Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed transmission.

Although it’s a concept bike at this stage, we believe a fully-faired Supersport version of the G 310 R could be just what BMW needs to compete with well-established competitors like the KTM RC 390, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the TVS Apache RR 310. If it does hit the production line, expect the fully-faired bike to be priced at a mind-boggling premium over the G 310 R.

Best companion on the road

Rolls like a bullet and gives a comfort posture while riding . Only Buy if u can afford 90 litre of petrol per month and can bear the amount of servicing . The breaks are mind-blowing and too light to retard the tank capacity is sufficient . This bike' s perfomance is outstanding and I suggest you to purchase .Read More

Review g310r

The BMW G310R is an excellent choice for those looking for a stylish, well-built, and reliable motorcycle for urban commuting and occasional weekend rides. However, riders seeking aggressive performance and cutting-edge features may find better value in competitors like the KTM Duke 390 or TVS Apache RR310Read More
