Suzuki Burgman Street vs Suzuki Access 125: Detailed Comparison

Suzuki recently launched the Burgman Street in India, and it is one of the OG maxi-styled scooters in the country. That said, it’s not a cheap scooter to buy, and the question has always remained: Is the high price tag just because of its price, or does the scooter have something else to justify the price too? And more importantly, why should you not save a lot of money and just buy the Suzuki Access 125 instead? 

They’re both very valid questions, and we are here to answer both of them and a lot more. So here’s which of the two 125cc Suzuki scooters you should go for: 

Price & Variants

• There’s a clear winner here. No points for guessing; it’s the Suzuki Access 125. In fact, its prices end exactly where the Burgman’s prices begin. And when we compare just the base variants, there’s a near Rs 23,000 difference. That’s massive! 

• And what’s even more impressive for the Access 125 is that it actually gets single-channel ABS at a lower price, something the Burgman misses out on despite being quite a lot more expensive. 

• And for all the extra money, the Burgman doesn’t even get the TFT console as standard. So it doesn’t rank very high on the value-for-money proposition.

Dimensions & Design 

• After the price, the biggest difference between the 2 scooters is in their dimensions. While it’s not massive on paper, the Suzuki Burgman Street will feel like the bigger scooter from the moment you sit on it. 

• It’s an upright, feet-forward (slightly) posture, which makes you feel like you’re riding a big scooter. And given that the Burgman is a physically bigger scooter, the feeling is on point. 

• Meanwhile, the Suzuki Access 125 is a bit more ‘normal’ sized. It’s not particularly large, nor is it particularly small. Its dimensions are what we’ve come to expect from the likes of the TVS Jupiter 110 and the Honda Activa 6G. 

Features & Safety

• Both the Suzuki Burgman Street and the Access 125 have enough features: TFT consoles (on the higher variants), LED headlights, external fuel-filler caps, etc. And in most ways, the Access 125 seems to be on par with the Burgman. 

• While the two scooters don’t have the largest of boots, nifty storage spaces like the 2 cubby holes at the front make them more practical, luggage-friendly scooters.

• That said, given its high price tag, we would’ve liked to see a TFT console as standard on the Burgman. And more importantly, the scooter should’ve had at least a single-channel ABS system. Given that the Access 125 has it as an option, the Burgman should’ve definitely had it as standard. 

• All said and done, the Burgman gets a decent list of features, which we have explained in detail.

Engines

• Both scooters get the same engine and we quite like this engine, for it pleases everyone in the family. It’s smooth and the power delivery is nice and easy, which makes it very easy to ride for older people in the family. Be it your parents or even your grandparents, pretty much everyone can get on with this engine quite easily. 

• And then when you get on the scooter and want some fun, the engine is up for that too. Twist the throttle hard, and you’ll be surprised with its responsiveness. And when you combine the peppy engine with its lightweight body, that means you’ll be slicing through traffic a lot quicker than you would’ve thought. 

• To sum this engine up, it’s quite an all-rounder that we’re very fond of.

After reading the entire story, if you think that the Suzuki Access 125 is the better scooter of the two, you’re not wrong. It’s a lot less expensive, has the same smooth engine, is on par in terms of features and still doesn’t feel cheap in any way. That makes it a fantastically value-for-money scooter, and there’s no denying that. So the winner of this comparison is definitely the Access 125. 

So then is the Suzuki Burgman charging all of that extra money just for the looks? Well, kind of. It’s not that the Burgman has something substantially different to offer. That said, the scooter is a genuinely good-looking one and we would understand if you still decided to go for the Burgman over the Access 125 just for the former’s looks. Suzuki Burgman Street vs Aprilia SXR125 - The SXR, while fun to ride, is uncomfortable and not very practical for everyday use, so the Burgman would be our pick. 

Suzuki Burgman Street vs Jupiter 125 - With the updated Jupiter 110, the Jupiter 125 looks a bit dated so most people would lean towards the fancy-looking Burgman.

Suzuki Burgman Street vs Honda Activa 125 - Honda hasn’t updated the Activa 125 in ages so our pick of the two would be the Suzuki. 

Suzuki Burgman Street vs TVS Ntorq 125 - The Ntorq 125 is sporty and a lot of fun and if excitement is what you want in your 125cc scooter, get the Ntorq. 

Suzuki Burgman Street vs Honda Dio 125 - Get the Dio only if you’re on a very tight budget. Apart from that, the extra money for the Burgman is worth it. 

Suzuki Burgman Street vs Hero Xoom 125 - While the Xoom 125 is a nice scooter, the Burgman is just a little bit more fun and youthful to ride. 

Suzuki Burgman Street vs Suzuki Avenis 125 - If you like the Burgman’s looks, you should go for it. If not, the Avenis is a good enough scooter for most uses.
