    A mature maxi-styled scooter vs a sharp youth-focused scooter

Suzuki Burgman Street vs Hero Xoom 125: Detailed Comparison

The Suzuki Burgman Street and Hero Xoom 125 give two completely contrasting ideas of what a 125cc scooter should be like. The Burgman is a mature maxi-style cruiser that looks like a more polished, rounded scooter, which is focused on comfort, tech, and styling. The Xoom, meanwhile, is a perfect example of what a sharp, fast, peppy performance scooter should look and feel like.

Clearly, these two are chasing very different sets of riders, but their engine capacity puts them in the same category. If you are stuck choosing between the two, this detailed comparison will tell you which one deserves to be your daily ride.

    • While it may appear bigger due to its maxi styling, the Suzuki Burgman Street is actually slightly smaller overall than the Hero Xoom 125.

    • The shorter wheelbase and compact dimensions should make the Burgman feel easily flickable and agile in traffic, while the longer wheelbase gives the Xoom extra footedness for high-speed runs.

    • Both scooters have almost similar, accessible seat heights and adequate ground clearance for urban use. The Burgman, however, is about 6 kilos lighter, making it friendlier in navigating traffic.

    • Featuring a bold apron with a windscreen, a fat muffler, and a stepped seat, the Burgman Street carries a proper European maxi-scooter silhouette. It has a spacious floorboard with dedicated front footrests for leg-stretching on longer rides. Scoring high on the lifestyle quotient, it is the kind of scooter that looks elegant and polished even standing still.

    • With a falcon-inspired, aggressive front fascia and sharp body lines, the Hero Xoom 125 appears athletic to the core. Its sleek position lamp, projector headlamps, sequential LED indicators, and large wheels further complement its sportiness. Plus, its layered, sculpted bodywork screams loud that it is a fast, sporty scooter.

    • Both scooters use similar frames and suspension setups but are tuned slightly differently.

    • The Suzuki Burgman Street is tuned for a plush, composed ride even on slightly rough patches, making it well-suited for daily city commuting. The Hero Xoom 125, meanwhile, is a bit on the stiffer side but feels more stable at high speeds and highly rewarding, especially in the corners.

    • Both scooters are equipped with alloy wheels and tubeless tyres. However, the Xoom 125 gets larger wheels, shod with fatter rubber, further adding stability, confidence and grip whether you are cornering or braking.

    • A front disc, drum-type rear brake and a combined braking system are common, providing a safe braking performance.

    • Both scooters offer all-LED lighting, but the Xoom 125’s projector units illuminate more sharply than the Burgman’s LED units.

    • Fully digital instrument clusters with smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation are common features among both scooters. However, Suzuki’s Ride Connect suite offers a wider set of connected features, including auto-reply SMS, ambient weather & temperature, calendar & traffic alerts, digital storage, and more. Plus, the higher-spec trim further brings a colour TFT screen to the tech mix.

    • The top-spec Burgman also features a keyless ignition system that allows you to ride the scooter without even taking the key out of your pocket.

    • Hero has also crammed the ZX variant of the Xoom 125 with reasonable features such as sequential LED winkers, fuel-lid buzzer alert, boot light, and an illuminated start button.

    • Both scooters offer a USB port and front storage space, but Suzuki’s practicality is more convincing with the charging port inside a covered pocket and another open pocket for quick access.

    • Another practical advantage of the Burgman Street is its larger 24.6-litre underseat storage, which is large enough to swallow a full-face helmet along with daily essentials.

    • While both scooters have similar types and capacities of engines, they are tuned very differently.

    • The Suzuki Burgman Street gives a bit of an advantage with low-rpm torque delivery. It is tuned for a relaxed and smooth, yet sustainable performance, complementing its comfortable ride character.

    • The Hero Xoom 125, meanwhile, has a clear advantage with more power and better top-end, claiming best-in-class zero to 60kmph time of 7.6 seconds. It feels punchier and has stronger performance for longer rides.

    BikeDekho Says

The Suzuki Burgman Street is clearly a better all-rounder here. Its suave maxi styling makes it look premium and definitely hard to ignore. Performance is decent with good efficiency, and it is loaded with usable features and tech. But what makes it a perfect companion for your daily rides is the comfort and practicality, both of which are highly elevated in this one.

The Hero Xoom 125, on the other hand, is for those who want to come out of their comfort zone and feel the ride. It offers best-in-class performance with a chassis full of feedback and high-speed confidence. Its hardware and aerodynamic design further complement the sportiness. While offering so many advanced features, it is noticeably more affordable, making for a great value-for-money deal.

If comfort, refinement, and practicality top your list, go with the Burgman. If spirited performance, sporty looks, and a lower sticker price matter more, the Xoom 125 ZX is where the money is.
