Ola S1 Pro Catches Fire, Raises Safety Concerns

The e-scooter goes up in flames in the outskirts of Pune

The e-scooter goes up in flames in the outskirts of Pune

In a freak accident on Saturday March 26, an Ola S1 Pro went up in flames, emitting thick black smoke in the outskirts of Pune. Multiple videos of the fire incident have been circulating on the internet and social media.

The incident was indeed scary and dangerous and something that was not expected out of a well established and premium brand like Ola Electric. Despite all the technology and development boasted by the EV manufacturer, the cells on the e-scooter managed to catch fire and is something that should be investigated and rectified by the company.

Kudos to manufacturers like Ather, TVS and Bajaj for building products that are safe for its customers, avoiding unforeseen circumstances.

Currently the exact reason for the fire is unknown, but it could be due to the overheating of the battery pack, causing the internal temperature and pressure of the battery to rise at a quicker rate.

Additionally, Ola Electric put out a statement saying that they are aware of the fire incident and are investigating the cause of the same. The statement also mentioned that safety is of paramount importance for the company and the customer who owned the e-scooter is safe.

However, the need for the statement shouldn’t have arrived in the first place. It raises serious questions about the safety and functionality of the e-scooter. Apart from this, the EV manufacturer has faced other issues with their EVs, primarily with the reports of the e-scooter riding backwards in the normal mode and vice versa and overselling of the two-wheelers but under deliveries of the same.

Theoretically, the Ola scooters are incredible products with great features and flaunt great specs and claimed figures; however, resolving these issues is something that the company should focus on.

It's Affordable And Won't Affect The Environment

Pros and disadvantages pros: If you want this for short, everyday trips, get it since it's affordable and won't affect the environment much. It also has more features than any other scooter. Cons: This bike's noise occasionally comes from certain components, such as its headlight and disc brake, and I didn't particularly like the way it looked. It may also not be as effective in rural areas where there is a lack of electricity and electric stations as well as poor roads, making it less likely to perform as well. My recommendation is that you utilise it for daily activities and sporadic trips.Read More
