Is The Honda CB300R Discontinued?
Seems so, as per our sources, as well as the sales numbers in the last three months
[UPDATE: It has now been taken down from the official website as well]

According to our dealership sources, Honda seems to have silently discontinued its 300cc neo-retro roadster, the Honda CB300R in India, after being on sale for 6 years.

Since its launch, the CB300R has not been a motorcycle with great sales, and according to the SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers) sales figures, Honda sold only one CB300R in the last three months (March - May 2025). Our dealer sources say that the bike has been discontinued 2-3 months ago, although it was still listed on the official website a few days back. Now however, it has been taken down from the official website as well.

Just before it got discontinued, the CB300R was listed at Rs 2.40 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) on Honda’s official website, and at this price point, it feels a little dated as its rivals, the Triumph Speed 400 and the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 offer a lot more performance and features. More importantly, the two bikes are available on sale pretty much across the country whereas the CB300R’s availability is restricted to select cities and select dealerships. The Honda CB300R was launched in India back in February 2019, at a price of Rs 2.41 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The bike was quite compact and had a lovely neo-retro design with all LED lights and a simple yet fairly informative LCD screen. The 286cc liquid-cooled motor produced 31PS at 9,000 rpm and 27.5Nm 7,500rpm. It was not the most powerful 300cc motorcycle in the segment, but with its light 146kg kerb weight, the bike offered great performance and handling.

In January 2022, the bike received a BS6 engine update along with a new paint scheme and golden coloured inverted fork. Along with these updates, the pricing also went up significantly, at Rs 2.77 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), which did not really make sense for what it offered. Honda later realised this, and with heavy localisation, it was able to cut the price down significantly (by Rs 37,000) in 2023. But the damage was done as the segment was already thriving with several feature-rich rivals, making the CB300R practically irrelevant.

Within these few months, Honda has been quite active as it has launched a lot of big bikes in India. However, with the CB300R gone, Honda does not have anything for the Indian enthusiasts looking for a 300cc performance-oriented motorcycle. Sure, we have the Honda CB300F, but it is, at the end of the day, simply a sporty commuter. Now that Honda already has the NX500 and the Rebel 500, we hope the brand launches the CB500F soon in India. That would give Honda an edge over the Aprilia Tuono 457 in the promising 400-500cc naked bike segment.

- Honda CB300R handles very poorlyI personally feel that Honda CB300R handles very poorly compared to other bikes in this segment. The bike being light in weight, high wind speeds easily topples the whole bike and makes it exceedingly unstable at speeds above 80 kilometers per hour. I ride this bikes at city approx 34 kmpl on soft throttle which is low. I do not even hard push the bike on highways.Read More1 5
