Honda CD 110 Dream BS6: Same Price, Other Options

Not sold on the Honda CD 110 Dream BS6? Here’s what else you could buy for around the same price

Not sold on the Honda CD 110 Dream BS6? Here’s what else you could buy for around the same price

Honda has launched its entry-level commuter, the CD 110 Dream in India for Rs 62,729. The updated bike commands a premium of Rs 13,695 over the base BS4-compliant version. While that’s a steep asking price, Honda has tried to justify the price tag by equipping the bike with some segment-first features like an engine kill switch, pass beam switch, and an ACG starter. But, if you still aren’t convinced, take a look at the following options around the same price point.

Hero HF Deluxe i3S - Rs 58,000

Interested customers could save on some cash by opting for the HF Deluxe which is one of Hero’s entry-level commuter. Yes, you would end up missing out on a couple of features but the extra money could be utilised better on some safety gear. Moreover, the HF Deluxe is still a stylish-looking bike which comes with Hero’s i3S technology and BS6-compliant motor.

Hero Splendor Plus BS6 - Rs 60,350

But if you really want to put your faith in a reliable bike, we’d suggest Hero’s best-selling Splendor Plus BS6. It packs a smaller fuel-injected motor which comes with i3S technology, a bank angle, throttle position, and air-intake temperature sensors. The bike’s known to take a beating and hence stands as the most preferred choice among Indian motorcycles.

Bajaj Platina 110 H Gear BS6 - Rs 60,550

Bajaj took the 110cc segment by storm when it launched the Platina H-Gear, a bike pegged to take on Hero’s Splendor. While it wasn’t successful, it did manage to make a dent in Hero’s sales by raking in pretty good numbers and even becoming Bajaj’s second best-selling motorcycle, and for good reason. The Platina 110 H-Gear was the first bike in its segment to feature a front disc, a 5-speed gearbox, and a gear-shift indicator. More on the Platina H-Gear here.

Honda Activa 6G - Rs 64,464

If practicality tops your list, the Honda Activa 6G would make more sense. It’s been thoroughly reworked for 2020 and features a telescopic fork, a larger front wheel, an external fuel filler cap, an ACG starter and much more. All for a premium of just around Rs 1,700 more.

Access 125 Drum CBS BS6 - Rs.68,800

Around Rs 6,000 more will get you the BS6-compliant Suzuki Access, and boy is it worth it! While Suzuki hasn’t changed the way the scooter looks, the engine has become even smoother and crisper than before. The Access also comes with an LED headlight and an eco-assist indicator, which is basically a bar around the speedometer that turns from blue to green when you ride the scooter economically.

The Hero Honda CD100 was Fuel Efficient

The Hero Honda CD100 was one of the most reliable and fuel-efficient bikes of its time, perfect for daily commuting. If you're considering it today, it’s mostly a vintage or second-hand option. If you’re looking for a modern alternative, bikes like Hero Splendor Plus or Honda Shine 100 offer similar reliability with updated features.Read More
