Honda CBR150R Vs Yamaha R15 V4: Photo Comparison

Here's how one of the most attractive sportbikes in India fares against its upcoming rival

Here's how one of the most attractive sportbikes in India fares against its upcoming rival

In India, while the Yamaha YZF R15 V4 has been the bestseller in the entry-level sportbike segment, Honda seems to be planning to relaunch the CBR150R later this year. So if you're confused between the two, let us simplify things via a detailed photo comparison.

Starting with the design, both the bikes feature a sharp and sporty stance, and their fascia gets an aggressive look.

The Honda CBR150R mounts a split-type LED headlight with twin DRLs, while the Yamaha R15 V4 uses a projector LED headlight with dual daytime running lights.

The side profile of both the bikes looks almost identical as they employ a full fairing, split-type step-up seat, and an upswept exhaust. However, there's a difference; the Honda CBR150R gets a bigger 12-litre fuel tank as compared to the 11-litre unit on the Yamaha R15 V4.

Both the motorcycles feature a sharp tail section. The CBR150R gets split-type LED tail light, while the R15 V4 mounts a single-piece LED unit.

On the features front, the Honda CBR150R gets a digital instrument cluster that displays basic titbits and hazard lights that automatically switch on under sudden braking situations.

The Yamaha R15 V4 on the other hand comes equipped with a traction control system and a Bluetooth-enabled instrument cluster that can be paired to a smartphone via the Y-connect app. Once paired, this console displays call alerts, SMS alerts and mobile battery status. Moreover, the cluster also features a lap timer and two display modes (Street and Track).

Powering the CBR150R is a 149.16cc liquid-cooled engine that puts out 17.1PS and 14.4Nm. The R15 V4 on the other hand draws power from a 155cc liquid-cooled motor with VVA technology that delivers 18.35PS and 14.2Nm. Both these engines come mated to a six-speed gearbox that is assisted by an assist and slipper clutch. The R15 also gets a quick shifter with Racing Blue, R15M and the MotoGP Edition.

Both the bikes employ an identical suspension setup – USD fork up front and a monoshock at the rear.

The wheel setup and the braking hardware are also similar as they roll on 17-inch wheels while using a disc at both ends, assisted by a dual-channel ABS unit. The Honda CBR150R is also offered with a non-ABS version in the Indonesian market.

In Indonesia, the price of the CBR150R starts at RP 36,280,000 (around Rs 1.91 lakh) and goes up to RP 41,180,000 (around Rs 2.16 lakh). Meanwhile, it is offered in a total of six colours: Victory Black Red, Tricolour, Honda Racing Red, Dominator Matte Black, Matte Black, and the MotoGP Edition. The upcoming iteration of the bike is expected to be priced in India at around Rs 1.80 lakh (ex-showroom).

The price of the Yamaha R15 V4 on the other hand ranges from Rs 1,73,800 (Metallic Red) up to Rs 1,82,800 (R15M) (ex-showroom Delhi). The bike is available in five colours: Metallic Red, Dark Knight, Racing Blue, Metallic Grey and the MotoGP Edition.

r15 V4 Review

The r15 v4 has the old punch while handling the BS6 engine with good aerodynamics and aggressive seating position. Its very easy to reach 140+ with default setting while it was not made for the long drive push, we can try the limits where I've driven around 25,000km in the same bike as well. I love it as my soul.Read More

Yamaha r15 v4 is a great fully faired sports bike

The reason i chose this bike was quite a story in short, i was a student who was about get in college and i needed a bike to travel a quite moderate distance. When i was searching for a bike which is highly affordable as well as stylish on the looks and has great features too! Then i came across this masterpiece which was totally worth it. The ride is great so far. But there are few factors to look for if a beginner is going to buy this bike, as a fully fair bike the biggest issue would be comfort on long ride eg. Posture issue because of the aggressive stance fully fair bikes usually have. But for the short to moderate distance its great soo far. And handling also good, and mileage is better than expected. One more thing to consider, if someone lives in a crowded city like area they can this as this bike isn't a street fighter or naked body bike for city specific conditions. I would absolutely recommend this bike to even a beginner who want to get a thrilling ride experience of a fully fair bike at price rang as low as this, mileage also great compared to other similar bikes, great handling too, maintenance is also fairly rated i would say, totally worth it!
