The production version of the bike has been revealed and it is set to enter the Chinese market soon

  • It was unveiled at the 2018 Chongqing Mobo Fair in China.
  • Apart from the Chinese market, the bike will also be exported to Japan.
  • Rumoured to be priced at 34,580 Yuan (around Rs 3.72 lakh).

Suzuki’s Chinese partner company Haojue is all set to launch the Haojue DR300 in the country soon. Apart from serving the Chinese market, the bike will also be exported to Japan. Rumours are rife that the bike might be priced at 34,580 Yuan, which is about Rs 3.72 lakh. That’s quite a premium for a mid-capacity twin-cylinder motorcycle.

The Haojue DR300 was unveiled at the 2018 Chongqing Mobo Fair in China and the production version looks pretty much similar to the one showcased at the motor show. It comes with quite an aggressive design language with tonnes of cuts and slashes on the bodywork, large muscular fuel tank extensions with a contrasting sleek LED headlamp up front and a stubby, raised tail section at the rear.

The bike is powered by a 300cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine, which churns out 29.2PS at 8500rpm and 27.8Nm at 6500rpm. It works alongside a 6-speed transmission. The engine is said to be a rebored and reworked version of the Suzuki Inazuma 250, also known as Suzuki GW250. It makes 26.3PS and 24.2Nm.

The motorcycle is loaded with premium features like an all-LED lighting system, a fully digital instrument cluster with a gear position indicator, dual-channel ABS, and sticky Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tyres measuring 110-section front and 140-section rear. It also uses a sophisticated KYB inverted front fork and a 7-step preload-adjustable linked monoshock at the rear.

Expect Suzuki to bring a derivation of this motorcycle to the European shores in the future. If the rumoured price is true, it would be too expensive for Suzuki to bring the bike to our country. It already has the Gixxer 250 and the Gixxer SF 250 to cater to the quarter-litre segment in our country. But the silver lining is, Suzuki might just introduce the V-Strom 250 with an engine based on the Gixxer 250 twins in the Indian market in the near future.
