With BS6 norms kicking in soon, fuel-injection is the future. Here are four two-wheelers you can buy now for under Rs 1 lakh

The Indian government has been pushing for cleaner vehicles and as a result, it will be implementing BS6 emission norms by April next year. To that effect, bikemakers are scrambling to get all their two-wheelers BS6 compliant. The most logical step is the introduction of fuel injection for more efficient and cleaner combustion and emissions that will pass BS6 norms. This means you will be able to buy even 110cc bikes with fuel-injection tech. While that is some time away, here are four fuel-injected two-wheelers you can buy today and that too under Rs 1 lakh.

Hero Maestro Edge 125 (Rs 62,700 ex-showroom Delhi):

While Hero has dabbled with fuel injected bikes before, this is the first time they have introduced a fuel injected scooter. The Maestro Edge 125 is also the first fuel-injected scooter to be sold in India and the only scooter in this list. The 124.6cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine puts out 9.24PS at 7000rpm and 10.2Nm of torque at 5000rpm. We rode the scooter and felt the throttle to be responsive and there’s strong performance up to 80kmph. You can read the complete review here

Hero Glamour FI ((Rs 69,400 ex-showroom Delhi):

The Glamour  FI was the first 125cc bike in India to feature fuel-injection. It is priced at the higher side of the 125cc segment but the fuel-injected motor impresses with its refinement and fuel-efficiency. Its 124.7cc motor makes 11.69PS at 7500rpm and 11Nm at 6000rpm. The Glamour FI gets a 6-speed gearbox. It makes for a refined and powerful commuter if you don't mind shelling the extra premium.

Yamaha FZ-FI (Rs  95,680 ex-showroom, Delhi):

The third-generation Yamaha FZ-FI gets a completely new bodywork and features like LED headlamp, new LCD instrument console and a new seat. It carries forward the same 149cc fuel-injected motor but has been retuned for better city driveability. The motor now makes 13.2PS at 8000rpm and 12.8Nm of torque at 6000rpm, and comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The FZ-FI is a good looking 150cc bike that has been reworked to provide a more comfortable riding experience in the city. You can also opt for the more premium looking FZS-FI which is priced at Rs 97,680 (ex-showroom).

TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Fi (Rs 99,101 ex-showroom Delhi):

Another option in the 150-160cc segment is the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Fi. This refined engine impresses with its performance, lack of vibrations and linear power delivery. Its 159.7cc motor delivers 16.79PS at 8000rpm and 14.8Nm at 6500rpm easily, making it the most powerful bike in the segment. It also gets Showa tuned forks and monoshock, and optional Pirelli tyres. You can read our review of the Apache RTR 160 4V here.
