Exclusive: Royal Enfield Himalayan Price, Power Output & Other Details Revealed; Launch in March 2016

While most of were busy planning things for the approaching motor show, one of our sources at Royal Enfield revealed some interesting facts about the much-anticipated Royal Enfield Himalayan including its price. With this, we also came to know that the media invite we have received for 2nd Feb is meant for the unveiling of the product while the official launch will take place in the month to follow, i.e. March 2016.

Royal Enfield Himalayan will come powered by a 411cc, air-cooled, SOHC engine that will crank out 24.5bhp of power and 32Nm of torque. BikeDekho came to know that the engine fitted in the bike has been codenamed as D71 that was earlier rumoured to be LS400. Being the first proper entry-level adventure motorcycle in the country, the bike receives panniers at the front to hold small petrol containers and other handy stuff. Besides this, the Himalayan also gets off-roading 21-inch front and 17-inch rear Ceat tyres to conquer the terrains with ease. The braking duties will be taken care of by dual disc brakes without an ABS. Other features include an upswept exhaust, analog-digital instrument cluster including a compass and a big transparent windshield at the front. The seat height of the bike is just 800mm that means the short heighted riders too, can enjoy adventure riding on the Himalayan.

Our source at Royal Enfield revealed the price of the machine and the figure left us by surprise. The Himalayan will come at a price of Rs. 1.60 lac (ex-showroom, Delhi), which is bloody good if you ask us, keeping in mind the segment this bike falls in. The bike will come in two colours - White and Black and in a single variant only. The official launch event will take place in March prior to a media ride that will kick off next month. Meanwhile, we are looking forward to the 2nd Feb unveiling and hope that the bike will amaze us more in reality than in virtual. Stay tuned to BikeDekho for first Live coverage of the 2016 Indian Auto Expo!

Powerful And Classy

The bike is amazing both in feel and ride. Long distances don’t feel like it. The only issue is the heating of the bike while riding in the city, but on highways, it just feels amazing.Read More
