Honda had filed a trademark for the same name back in December last year
Honda has sent a cryptic invite with the tagline “Get Ready To Find A New Smart… 23 January, 2023”. We did a little digging and found out that Honda had applied for a trademark of the name ‘H-Smart’ on December 21, 2022. More importantly, the ‘Goods & Services Description’ reveals that it’s an anti-theft alarm system for two-wheelers.
Vehicle theft is one of the major menaces in the country, so Honda’s upcoming tech should come in handy. The teaser shows a robotic hand with the word ‘AI’ mentioned, possibly hinting at a system that works in conjunction with the engine’s ECU, thus ensuring a foolproof security system. In layman’s terms, ECU is a computer that controls the engine’s combustion and other functions.
Whether it will be available in all of Honda’s current lineup such as the Activa, Unicorn and more, or if it will be reserved to its 200cc and above lineup remains to be seen. Either way, we will know for sure on January 23. Until then, stay tuned to BikeDekho!
