TVS Ronin Base Variant: Detailed Explainer
The TVS Ronin makes everyday riding fun and comfortable without braking the bank
The TVS Ronin is a modern neo-retro bike that combines everyday practicality with a unique appearance that makes you think of a roadster, a cruiser, and a scrambler, all at once. Thanks to its smooth power delivery, it is a very approachable bike for both beginners and experienced riders seeking a comfortable and enjoyable ride. TVS is offering the base variant at Rs 1,30,290 for the black colour, Rs 1,31,990 for the red colour, and Rs 1,33,790 (ex-showroom) for the special edition colour.
Design & Styling
Ronin comes with a retro-styled round headlight with a T-shaped DRL built into it, a muscular fuel tank, chunky block-tread tyres, upswept exhaust, and a relaxed ergonomics setup. No one can decide whether it is a scrambler, roadster or a cruiser. It handles the duties of all three decently enough though. The colours on offer for the base variant are Lightning Black and Magma Red.
There is also an Agonda Edition which adds a Goa-inspired paint scheme to the bike. Apart from the cosmetics, mechanically the bike is identical to the base variant.
Features
-
Full-LED headlamp with signature T-shaped DRL, LED tail lamp, and indicators.
-
Asymmetrically mounted digital circular LCD screen displaying speed, RPM, gear position, fuel gauge, and tripmeters.
-
Glide Through Technology (GTT) for low-speed riding in heavy traffic with just clutch modulation.
-
It also has two ABS modes: Rain and Urban, although it only has single channel ABS.
Safety & Hardware
In the safety and equipment area, the Ronin’s base variant is quite barebones, with 300 mm front disc brake and 240 mm rear disc brake and just single channel ABS. However, it does have chunky block-pattern tyres, slipper clutch, 41 mm USD front suspension, and preload-adjustable rear monoshock. While the equipment is not as extensive as you would assume for a TVS bike, it is good enough for its price range.
Engine & Performance
Powering the bike is a 225.9 cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, 4 valve, SOHC, air-oil-cooled engine. This mill churns out 20.4 PS at 7,750 rpm and 19.93 Nm at 3,750 rpm, mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
BikeDekho Says
Well, the TVS Ronin’s base variant is quite a package for the price. At Rs 1,30,290 or Rs 1,31,990 (depending on the colour option), it is one of the most powerful bikes. It also gets a basic set of features. But if you ask us, TVS should have offered dual channel ABS on the base variant as well.

Looks comfortable for daily commute of 140- 150 km. TVS Ronin offers 225 cc engine with good mileage of 40 kmpl, stunning looks which makes the heads turn, royal and comfy feel without compromising on city ride quality and oil cooling for better engine efficiency. Ride is smooth, punchy, confident and feels agile, makes you confident while riding but struggles in corners because of TVS tyres which lacks grip, comfort and art of cornering. The whole setup looks balanced for the price hence can't complain for that. Yes, I would recommend this bike if you are a person who can spend more on cost of ownership, the service center work is little bad, if you can tackle them thats on you because I have been doing the same, just to put your point, you have to complain otherwise they do not take you seriously specially the centers in small cities like Dewas, MP.
