Suzuki has unveiled the 150cc Burgman in Colombia, where it's called the Suzuki Burgman 15. It is a bulky looking maxi-scooter with seemingly comfortable ergonomics, and loads of features. Here is all you need to know about it:
The Burgman 150 comes with proper maxi-scooter looks. It gets big LED headlights, along with a projector in the centre, and DRLs on the sides. It also gets a tall visor, a chunky exhaust, 14-inch alloy wheels and a comfortable-looking seat. Other than this, the scooter is available in some premium and subtle colour options which enhance its overall appeal a bit more. It is powered by a 149cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that makes 14.4PS and 14.2Nm. In comparison, the Indian Suzuki Burgman 125 produces 8.3PS and 10.2Nm – this means that the Burgman 150 should provide a lot more performance. However, at 145kg (kerb) it is on the heavier side, and this could affect its overall performance.
The scooter appears to have relaxed ergonomics, with a low seat height of 760mm. In terms of features, the Burgman 150 gets a TFT console, with smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation and SMS/call alerts. It also gets keyless ignition, dual channel ABS, and a switchable traction control system (all in higher variants). Improving its convenience is a 25-litre underseat storage, and a USB-c charging port.

If Suzuki plans to bring this one to India ever, it could be significantly more expensive than the Burgman 125 that’s currently on sale. This gets a liquid-cooled engine, more features, is bigger in size – all of which should result in a price somewhere in the range of Rs 1.4 lakh to 1.5 lakh (ex-showroom). That will put it bang on against the Yamaha Aerox 155 and the Hero Xoom 160. The scooter segment in India is evolving from regular family scooters to more powerful and bigger scooters. While the maxi-scooter segment is still relatively small in terms of choices, it could stand to expand. If Suzuki can launch this at an appropriate time and price, it could stand to be as popular as the Burgman 125.
