Honda Activa 110: Variants Explained

With three Activa 110 variants on sale, we break down which one deserves your money

The Honda Activa is one of the best-selling scooters. It is a name synonymous with reliability and practicality for millions. Honda offers the Activa 110 in three distinct variants: Standard, DLX, and Smart.

What’s Shared Across Variants?

All variants share the same 109.51cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing 7.99 PS of power and 9.05 Nm of torque, paired with an automatic transmission. Braking is handled by drum brakes at both ends, supported by a Combined Braking System (CBS) as standard across all the variants. Also, all the paint jobs are available on all three variants. Practicality is covered with an 18-litre underseat storage compartment, an external fuel filler cap, and an open glove box.

What Differentiates The Variants?

With the difference of around Rs 15,000 between the entry-level Standard variant and the top-end Smart variant (both ex-showroom Delhi), buyers often wonder if the premium for the higher-spec models is justified. The decision boils down to convenience features. Read on to find out what differentiates the three variants:

Activa 110 Standard

The Standard variant is the entry point into the Activa family, designed for buyers who need a no-frills, dependable scooter. Features on the Standard model are basic but functional. It includes:

  • An analogue instrument console with a speedometer, odometer, and fuel gauge.

  • A halogen headlamp and steel wheels.

  • A USB-C charging port is available but only as an optional extra.

This variant misses out on modern features like LED lighting, alloy wheels, or any form of digital display. It is priced at Rs 76,083.

Activa 110 DLX

The DLX variant is the mid-spec model, representing a marginal step-up in features but for a significant bump in price over the Standard variant. Over the Standard variant, the DLX adds:

  • The upgrade to a full LED headlamp, which is more energy efficient than a halogen headlight, and looks a bit more modern too.

  • It also swaps the steel wheels for more stylish alloy wheels.

  • The analogue console is replaced with a 4.2-inch TFT display that shows a tachometer, mileage and range indicators, a clock, and an eco indicator, though it lacks Bluetooth connectivity for turn-by-turn navigation.

  • The USB-C charging port is a standard fitment on the DLX.

The DLX variant costs Rs 86,360, which is a little over Rs 10,000 compared to the base variant. Honda also offers a 25-Year Anniversary Edition of the Activa 110. While Honda lists it as a separate model, it is just a cosmetic package based on the DLX variant, and is priced at Rs 85,339, which is just over Rs 1,000 more.

Activa 110 Smart

The Smart variant is the top-of-the-line Activa 110. It is mechanically identical to the DLX but packs in Honda's latest keyless technology and connectivity features.

  • The Honda Smart Key system enables several functions: Smart Find (locates the scooter by flashing indicators), Smart Unlock (unlocks the handlebar and seat without a physical key), Smart Start (allows starting the scooter with the key in a pocket), and Smart Safe (an engine immobiliser that activates when the key moves out of range).

  • Furthermore, the TFT console on this variant is paired with Bluetooth via the Honda RoadSync app, enabling turn-by-turn navigation, call/SMS alerts, music controls, and weather forecasts directly on the scooter's display.

  • It is also marginally lighter, by 1kg, than the other two variants.

The premium paid for this variant is purely for the added layer of digital convenience and security, making it the choice for the tech-savvy commuter. And it costs Rs 91,082.

BikeDekho's Verdict: Which Variant To Buy?

The choice between the Honda Activa 110 variants depends entirely on a buyer's budget and preference for modern features. Since performance and core safety (with standard CBS) are identical across the range, the decision is straightforward. The Standard variant is the logical pick for buyers who prioritise the Activa's core promise of reliability and practicality above all else, and that is what we recommend.

The DLX offers desirable upgrades like an LED headlight, alloy wheels, and a TFT display. However, it feels like it’s neither here nor there, especially considering it costs around Rs 10,000 more than the base variant and still does not get turn-by-turn navigation. So, if navigation and tech-savvy features are your priority, then you might as well spend just Rs 4,722 more and go for the top-of-the-line Smart variant.
