Ather 450 Apex: Booking Details

The Ather 450 Apex offers excellent performance as well as plenty of usable features

The Ather 450 Apex is one of the most powerful production scooters in India. Priced at just under Rs 2 lakh, the scooter sits above all the other Ather electric scooters. It introduces a new Warp+ mode, a 100kmph top speed, and distinct styling cues like transparent body panels.

Variant And Price

The Ather 450 Apex is available in a single, fully-loaded variant. Costing Rs 1,94,999 (ex-showroom), the Apex sits above the 450X, and is meant for performance enthusiasts rather than regular scooter buyers, especially at its premium price tag. Do note that the final on-road price may vary by state. The scooter comes with the AtherStack Pro software suite as standard. Also included is a 5-year battery warranty, with an option to extend coverage even further.

Booking Details

Customers can reserve the scooter through Ather Energy's official website. The online process requires selecting a city and then selecting the warranty plan. Instead of the standard warranty, you can also choose an 8-year/80,000km extended warranty for Rs 4,999. After this, you may book the electric scooter for Rs 999.

You’ll then have to enter your personal details, choose the dealership, and pay the booking amount. Then the dealership will reach out to you for further processes. The delivery timeline will depend on the dealership’s location and inventory levels.

Reasons To Buy Or Skip The Ather 450 Apex

The 450 Apex presents a clear performance-focused package. If you’re a buyer who prioritises acceleration and features, this one’s worth considering.

Reasons To Buy

Reasons To Skip

Fastest Ather scooter (0–40kmph in 2.9 seconds, claimed)

Premium pricing over most electric scooters means it’s not for everyone

Adequate top speed for occasional highway runs

Only one colour option is available

Warp+ mode is super addictive, and offers incredible acceleration

Ride quality is firm

Google Maps and other useful connected features

No ABS despite the premium price tag

Colours

The Ather 450 Apex is offered in one exclusive colour scheme. The Indium Blue looks super unique, and goes well with the orange highlights on the wheels and chassis. More importantly, it gets translucent side panels that show the inner parts of the e-scooter.

Convenience Features

The scooter is equipped with a comprehensive set of convenience features managed through its dashboard. The AtherStack Pro software suite powers the user interface and connected functions.

Key features of the Ather 450 Apex include:

  • 7-inch Touchscreen Dashboard: Displays navigation, ride data, battery status, calls, and music controls.

  • Google Maps Navigation: Built-in navigation eliminates the need for a phone mount.

  • Bluetooth Connectivity: Enables call alerts, music control, and WhatsApp notifications on the dash.

  • MagicTwist: A regenerative braking system that activates when rolling off the throttle, giving back a bit of charge to the battery pack.

  • Cruise Control: Helps maintain a set speed on open roads.

  • Reverse Assist: Simplifies parking manoeuvres by letting you reverse the scooter by just a twist of the throttle.

  • OTA Software Updates: The scooter receives new features and improvements wirelessly.

  • AutoHold: Prevents the scooter from rolling back on inclines.

Safety Features

Ather has included several safety systems in the 450 Apex. The scooter features disc brakes at both the front and rear with Combined Braking System (CBS). We would’ve liked to see at least a single-channel ABS given its high-performance nature, that too at such a premium price tag. Here are the key highlights of other safety features:

  • Three-Level Traction Control: Offers Rain, Road, and Rally modes to manage rear-wheel slip in different terrain with different grip levels.

  • Emergency Stop Signal (ESS): Flashes the rear indicators during hard braking to alert following traffic.

  • ParkSafe: Monitors the scooter when parked and sends alerts for unauthorised movement.

  • Find My Scooter: Helps locate the vehicle in large parking areas.

  • Crash Alert: Notifies emergency contacts if a crash is detected.

  • Guide-Me-Home Lights: The headlamp stays on for a short period after parking - convenient in dimly lit parking areas.

Motor And Performance

The Ather 450 Apex is powered by a 7kW permanent magnet mid-mounted motor connected to a 3.7kWh lithium-ion battery. This setup delivers the strongest performance in Ather's lineup. The new Warp+ ride mode unlocks the scooter's full acceleration potential, helping it reach 40kmph from a standstill in just 2.9 seconds (claimed). The claimed top speed is 100kmph, and the IDC-certified (Indian Driving Conditions) range is 165km, though real-world figures will vary with riding modes. Using the home charger, a 0-80% charge takes approximately 3 hours and 12 minutes, while a full 0-100% charge takes about 5 hours and 15 minutes.

Rivals

There are very few electric scooters that are designed with pure performance in mind. The biggest rival for the Ather 450 Apex is the Simple Ultra. While the Ultra looks as sharp as the Apex, it has a slightly higher top speed and a much higher range (400km claimed!).

The only drawback is that Simple’s network isn’t as widespread as Ather’s. It will also rival the upcoming Ola S1 Pro Sport. The S1 Pro Sport has a much higher top speed (152kmph), along with twice the claimed range as the Apex (320km IDC).

Way Better Than I Expected!

Honestly, it was the Warp mode and the sheer acceleration. I wanted the quickest scooter on the road. The 'regenerative braking was very good in traffic areas. The transparent panels look sharp, too.. Overall its worth these performance is very impressive as it claims. Hitting 80-100 km/h is instant and effortless. On the highway, it holds its speed well, but you definitely have to stick to Eco/Ride mode to get a usable range. The Magic Twist feature is a game changer for stop-and-go traffic. Yes, I would recommend it, but only for the right person. Buy it if you love performance, want a premium, feature packed experience, and mostly use it for city or short distance highway travel. Don't buy it if range anxiety is a major concern, or if you are on a tight budget it's expensive and some features are behind a subscription. Read More
