Honda has unveiled the all-new ADV160 maxi-scooter in India, just months after filing a design patent for the scooter in the country. The biggest highlight here is that it gets an E-85 compliant, flex fuel engine and will be manufactured in India. This latest premium scooter brings an adventure-inspired design, a powerful engine and a host of modern features.

The Honda ADV160 gets a rugged and tough-looking design language, with a tall windscreen, a bold split-LED headlight setup and LED indicators. Its chunky exhaust further adds to its adventure-scooter appeal. The scooter also gets a single-piece seat, which looks quite spacious and should offer a comfortable riding position for both the rider and pillion. Adding to its ADV character are the wide 14-inch block-pattern tyres. The suspension setup includes a conventional telescopic fork and twin rear shock absorbers. Practicality is taken care of by a 27-litre underseat storage compartment.

Powering the Honda ADV160 is a 156.9 cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 16.3 PS and 14.9 Nm. However, the biggest highlight of the scooter is Honda’s Flextech technology, which makes the engine compatible with E-85 fuel.

In terms of features, the ADV160 gets a 5-inch TFT instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity. The system supports SMS and call alerts, along with music controls. Safety features include dual-channel ABS and switchable traction control. The scooter also gets keyless ignition for added convenience.

Once launched in India, the Honda ADV160 will compete with the Yamaha Aerox 155 and the Hero Xoom 160. With its rugged styling, larger engine and E-85 compatibility, the ADV160 could bring a unique combination of adventure styling, performance and everyday practicality to India’s premium maxi-scooter segment.
