The baby Versys is back at a much lower price than before, thanks to localisation

    Quick News Highlights:

    • It is powered by the same 296cc parallel-twin engine as the Ninja 300

    • Competes with the KTM 390 Adventure and Royal Enfield Himalayan

    • It was priced at Rs 4.6 lakh (ex-showroom), back in 2017

Kawasaki has re-introduced the Versys-X 300 in the Indian market for 2025. Priced at Rs 3,79,900 (ex-showroom), it is about Rs 1 lakh cheaper than before thanks to many components now being sourced locally. It returns to the entry-level adventure bike segment with some cosmetic updates and latest emission norms compliance, while retaining its core mechanicals. The bike is now available across Kawasaki dealerships and deliveries are expected to begin from June 2025.

    Design

The 2025 Kawasaki Versys-X 300 has a tall stance with a windscreen, semi-fairing, and an upswept exhaust. Kawasaki is offering the bike in two dual-tone colours: Candy Lime Green with Metallic Flat Spark Black, and Metallic Ocean Blue with Pearl Robotic White. There’s also a chunky rear grab rail with an integrated luggage rack to aid its long distance touring capability.

    Engine

Powering the Versys-X 300 is a 296cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine shared with the Kawasaki Ninja 300. The engine is now OBD-2B compliant, delivers 40PS at 11,500rpm and 25.7Nm at 10,000rpm, comes mated to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch.

    Underpinnings

The Kawasaki Versys-X 300 is built on a backbone frame, a 41mm telescopic fork with 130mm of travel and a monoshock with 148mm of travel. It rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wire-spoked wheels. However, these come with tubed tyres, unlike tubeless ones available on some rivals. The seat height is 815mm, ground clearance is 180mm, kerb weight is 184kg, it has a 17-litre fuel tank, and it gets petal disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS.

    Features

The bike gets a semi-digital instrument console that includes an analogue tachometer, gear position indicator, and a multi-function LCD console, but it misses out on smartphone connectivity, & navigation. Notably, the lighting setup continues to use halogen bulbs all around - which isn't a bad thing necessarily. Although, Kawasaki does offer optional touring add-ons such as panniers, knuckle guards, fog lamps, and a center stand.

    Rivals

The Versys-X 300 enters a highly competitive segment where models like the KTM 390 Adventure and the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 are present. The 390 Adventure is priced lower at Rs 3.68 lakh, and even lesser for the 390 Adventure X at Rs 2.91 lakh - both offer many more features including  a 5-inch TFT console, and tubeless tyres. The Himalayan, with prices ranging from Rs 2.85 lakh to Rs 2.98 lakh (all prices ex-showroom), delivers better value also with a strong feature list and its off-road credentials.

While the Versys-X is nearly Rs 1 lakh more expensive than the Himalayan 450, it has the advantage of a twin-cylinder engine — something neither rival offers in this segment. There are more bikes entering this segment in the next few coming months like the upcoming TVS Apache RTX300, the Hero XPulse 421, the Aprilia Tuareg 457, and the BMW F 450 GS - which was spotted testing recently.

    BikeDekho Says

The 2025 Kawasaki Versys-X 300 brings back a well-rounded, adventure tourer into the Indian market. With its smooth twin-cylinder, more than adequate performance, and reliability - it appeals to those looking for a lightweight, beginner-friendly adventure bike. However, its relatively higher price and lack of modern features may limit its appeal against better-equipped and more affordable rivals like the Royal Enfield Himalayan.

Versys X 300 – Chhoti si badi bike!
2024 mein li thi yeh bike, ab 18,000+ km chal chuki hai. Highway, ghat, off-road, city – har jagah leke gaya hoon. Engine 39 bhp ka lagta hai chhota par actual mein bohot refined hai, 400-500 km aaram se nikal jaati hai (28-32 kmpl real mileage). Seat thoda hard hai 300+ km ke baad thakan lagti hai, Suspension adventure bike jaisa kaam karta hai. Ground clearance. Brakes decent hain, dual-channel ABS bacha leta hai emergency mein. Cons bhi hain – 6th gear mein 100-120 ke upar thoda vibration aata hai Stock tyres (Metzeler) off-road mein slip kar jaate hain. Service cost thoda high hai Kawasaki ka. Par overall ₹4 - 5 lakh on-road mein jo package milta hai – looks, touring capability, reliability – us hisaab se full paisa vasool bike hai. Agar aap beginner ho ya weekend mein long rides karte ho aur ek lightweight adventure tourer chahte ho, toh dil se recommend karunga.
