Suzuki India has launched the 2024 GXS-8R in India at a price of Rs 9,25,000. The GSX-8R is a supersport offering from the Japanese brand and here’s everything you need to know.
The GSX-8R features a typical supersport design, with a full fairing and overall aggressive looks. It gets a vertically stacked dual-projector headlight, which gives it a unique identity. The bike overall looks quite good and makes for a nice addition to the big-capacity superbikes in India. It is currently offered in 3 colours: Metallic Matte Sword Silver, Metallic Triton Blue, and Metallic Matte Black No.2.
The GSX-8R is powered by a 776cc, liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder engine which produces 82.9PS and 78Nm. The engine is paired to a 6-speed transmission with a slip-and-assist clutch and a bi-directional quick shifter.
The bike is built on a tubular frame and its suspension setup consists of an inverted fork and link-type monoshock from Showa. The wheels used on this supersport are 17-inch alloy with a 120-section front and 180-section rear tyre.
Braking setup consists of a twin disc front and single disc rear setup, with NISSIN callipers. The bike gets dual channel ABS as standard.
Coming to the features, the Suzuki GSX-8R gets a 5-inch TFT display with two display modes day and night. Electronic riding ads include 3 riding modes: Mode A, B and C. The modes modulate the throttle response.
Mode A (Active) is said to offer the sharpest throttle response, Mode B (Basic) offers a balance, with softer throttle response and linear power delivery and Mode C (comforts) offers a more softer throttle response and is best when riding on wet or slippery surfaces.
The Suzuki GSX-8R doesn’t have any natural rivals in the 800cc segment, but other alternatives in the market include, the recently launched Triumph Daytona 660 and the Kawasaki Ninja 650.
For perspective, the Triumph Daytona 660 comes at a price of Rs 9,72,450 (ex-showroom) and the Ninja 650 comes at Rs 7,16,000 (ex-showroom prices).
