Bajaj Pulsar NS 160 Arrives At Dealerships

The Smaller NS Is Expected To Be Priced Below The Rs One Lakh Mark (on-road price)

The Smaller NS Is Expected To Be Priced Below The Rs One Lakh Mark (on-road price)

With the resurrection of the Pulsar NS 200 and a commuter-focussed Pulsar 150, Bajaj had left a gap in its portfolio – that of the sporty 150, or rather 160cc bike segment which included the Suzuki Gixxer, Yamaha FZ v2.0 and Honda Hornet 160. That changes with Bajaj's newest entrant, the NS 160.

The NS 160 was showcased in Turkey last December where Bajaj exports and sells its bikes. We expect the upcoming NS 160 to have similar specs as the export version. The export bike has a 160.3cc oil-cooled single-cylinder motor which makes 15.5 PS @ 8500rpm and 14.6Nm of torque @ 6500rpm. It gets a five-speed gearbox.

The NS 160 features the same perimeter frame, naked bodywork and telescopic front and gas charged rear monoshock suspension of the NS 200. The tyres though are a smaller 100/80 R17 at the front and 110/70 R17 at the back. For braking, the NS 160 gets petal front disc and drum though it might get a rear disc option like the competition. ABS from the export version might not make it on this one for now. The bike weighs just 135 kilos.

The bike is expected to be priced at a slight premium over the rest of the segment owing to the premium bits like the perimeter frame and Bybre brakes. We expect the bike to carry an ex-showroom price of around Rs 85,000. The bikes have started reaching dealerships and an official launch of the NS 160 will happen next month in July.

Interestingly, the new Pulsar NS 160 will not affect the positioning of the Pulsar 150 or the Pulsar 180 as these bikes cater to a different audience.

Good bike for youngsters

Good handling and medium breaking, medium performance for short time city and highway riding, good sharp stylish looking naked bike, good road presence, low service charge with medium mileage 30 to 40 kmpl. Long ride comfort is not good after 100km. Wrist pain and shoulder pain, good handling bike. It's give you confidence to flicker very easily. Front break is good stopping power but too much abs kicking problem, rear brake is not good, no stopping power. Top speed after 2nd service 124 highest, mileage not that good 40 km after simple riding. If you ride aggressively, mileage can drop upto 30-25 kmpl. Can recommend this bike to the youngsters who go to college and those who want to explore many places on bike. Short time riding and some time aggressive riding and those who want naked sports bike in low cc and low service charge bike, this is good for them.Read More

Excellent bike

My pulsar NS 160 is still in excellent condition with all documents and riding experience is awesome and bike is also fast and reliable. It also offers dual channel Abs and it has less maintenance cost and it gives immense pleasure to ride. Bike mileage is about 40 kmpl and full tank costs nearly 1k only and this is the best bike, I have ever rode in my life. Read More

good bike but need some improvements.

The bike is good handling and performance but the mileage is not that good, it gives me 30-35 kmpl mileage. Meanwhile, the other 160 segment bikes give more mileage and it's not that smooth at higher revs, feels too much vibration. Design is good and handling is good but not so comfortable feels pain in back and shoulder after long ride as it's sports bike.Read More

Review of my 6 years old NS160

I got this bike when i was 18 back in 2019, after almost 6 plus years and 30 thousand kilometres. I personally see this bike as the best value for money one can get. Apart from that this bike is still relevant after all these years. The one thing i like the most about this vehicle is its handling. If maintained well this bike gives a smooth and comfortable ride be it in city or highway. Mine is twin disc variant with single channel ABS, break bite is quick enough to react in emergency breaking situations. The only con I have noticed so far is bajaj's parts durability. Though they offer parts at cheaper rates comparatively but still it becomes a headache when you need to replace them more often. Will recommend this bike any day. For me this is a perfect package of commuter, adventure, long riding basically everything. I have done 500 kms in a single day stopped at every 100 kms for nearly 30 mins and the bike performed very well. This is a perfect bike for those who look for a all-rounder bike with low maintenance.Read More
