The 2021 iteration of the Himalayan will get slightly smarter, making the ADV even more versatile

  • The 2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan will come with Tripper navigation as standard.
  • Also features redesigned tank braces, tail rack, and a new seat.
  • Will be offered in new colour schemes too.
  • Likely to cost around Rs 5,000 more than the current-generation model.

Royal Enfield is all set to launch the 2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan today. It is likely to command a premium of Rs 5,000 over the outgoing model’s 1.91 lakh-rupee ex-showroom Delhi price tag.

As the leaked images suggest, the 2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan will pack a Tripper navigation pod, just like the one on the Royal Enfield Meteor 350. Instead of integrating the navigation display into the main console, Royal Enfield has chosen to keep it as a separate pod as it saves the brand the hassles of redesigning the whole console, consequently leading to changes in the production, which, in turn, would hike the prices up unnecessarily. Moreover, we feel the add-on pod retains the bike’s spartan looks. This feature along with the already existing digital compass should make it a breeze to navigate through unexplored places.

Apart from this, the tank braces have been moved forward to ensure there’s more room for the knees of taller riders. The tail rack has also been redesigned for better utility, and the bike will be available in a new range of colour schemes. For better comfort, the cushioning in the seat is said to have been enhanced too.

Apart from these changes, the rest of the mechanicals are likely to remain unchanged. The 411cc single-cylinder counterbalanced motor pushes out 24.8PS and 32Nm, meshing with a 5-speed transmission. If you're wondering how the BS6 Himalayan performs in the real world, check out our review.

All in all, the addition of turn-by-turn navigation and the design tweaks should make the Himalayan a little more wholesome than before. While the changes may not be substantial, the Himalayan still has the distinction of being one of the most affordable adventure tourers that offers a good balance of highway manners and off-road prowess -- all under Rs 2 lakh.
