It is sold as the MSX 125 in Vietnam

  • There aren’t any changes to the 2020 model.
  • Honda is yet to provide the necessary emission updates to the Grom.
  • The Grom was the design inspiration for the erstwhile Navi.

Honda has been leading the charge when it comes to the monkey bike genre with its Grom. The diminutive motorcycle packs a lot of fun and for 2020, Honda has given the Grom a number of colour updates. The motorcycle was recently launched in Vietnam under the name MSX 125.

For Vietnam, Honda now offers the MSX 125 in three new colours: red/blue, white/red and yellow/black. These new dual tone shades enhance the youthful appeal of the monkey bike. Aside from that, Honda has not made any changes. The 125cc single-cylinder engine is yet to be updated to meet Euro 5 emission norms. Currently, this motor produces around 9.3PS and 10.6Nm and gets a 4-speed gearbox.

Sadly, we do not think that Honda will bring this monkey bike to India anytime soon. While the Grom was patented in the country, the resultant product, the Honda Navi, failed to hook the masses onto the genre. More importantly, the Grom is a more serious motorcycle which could bear a price tag north of Rs 1 lakh, which will obviously not make any business sense in our cost conscious market.
