2016 Yamaha FJR1300A and FJR1300ES unveiled, Equipped with 6-speed Gearbox

Yamaha is bringing the FJR1300A and FJR1300ES supersport touring motorcycles in 2016 and manufacturer will treat these machines with a mild makeover for the next year. These sports tourers are virtually identical with their previous models. Unlike the previous models which had 5-speed gearbox, the upcoming FJR models will be equipped with a 6-speed gearbox and an Assist & Slipper Clutch. Gear ratios have also been revised with first & second slightly taller while fourth & fifth are slightly shorter along with an additional taller sixth gear.

Both the FJR models retain the same 1,298cc, liquid-cooled, in-line, four-cylinder, fuel injected engine that is used to power the current versions. The bikes are built on an aluminium delta box frame. Apart from the transmission, motorcycles receive an updated instrument console, redesigned “twin-eye” LED headlights, the tail light and turn signal assemblies, all featuring in LEDs.

The FJR1300ES model gets a benefit of front LED cornering lights. As the Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) diagnoses the lean angle, an array of LED lights will be activated sequentially on the side you are leaned and help further to illuminate the road properly.    

2016 FJR1300A makes do with conventional telescopic front suspension while the ES model comes with electronically adjustable suspension at both the ends which comprises of 4 pre-load settings and total 10 damping adjustments, all at the push of a button.

Both the FJR versions receive traction control system, D-Mode selectable engine mapping, ABS, UBS (Unified Braking System), cruise control, electronically adjustable windscreen, 12V socket to charge accessories and heated grips.

2016 Yamaha FJR1300A and FJR1300ES motorcycles will be available in Cobalt Blue color. The prices for both models will be announced in February, next year and expectedly these touring bikes will be launched in March 2016.
