The crossover scooter is powered by a 745cc liquid-cooled motor and comes mated to a DCT transmission

Showcased as a concept at EICMA last year, Honda has now officially unveiled the production-spec X-ADV crossover scooter at the 2016 event. It is not the first time that Honda has come up with something like the X-ADV. The manufacturer has previously developed off-beat models like the DN-01 and NM4 Vultus, that were available in the global markets.

The X-ADV carries a rugged look which, along with the long travel suspension, spoked wheels and hand guards, completes the adventure look. The crossover scooter has been crafted by Honda's design team in Italy. It is built around a new tubular steel chassis, featuring a 17-inch wheel at the front and a 15-inch wheel at the rear with dual-purpose tyres. It gets twin discs at the front and a single disc at the back to perform braking duties. Staying true to the adventure theme, the X-ADV gets 41mm diameter adjustable USD forks at the front and a preload-adjustable rear shock.

Powering the crossover scooter is a 745cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin motor that also does duty in the NC750X. The engine develops 55PS of max power at 6250rpm and 68Nm of peak torque at 4750rpm. The engine comes mated to Honda’s Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) system wherein the gearshifts are controlled by the ECU in ‘D’ mode. The rider can choose from three different riding modes that vary the power output, and, lastly, the manual mode for complete control of the gear shifts.

Other features include LED headlamps, 5-stage adjustable windscreen, 21-litre storage space under the seat, keyless ignition and a 13.1-litre fuel tank.
