The SYM Joymax Z 300 maxi-scooter has been spotted testing in Pune. It was seen doing triple-digit speeds, hinting at the scooter’s sporty, performance-oriented demeanour. It has a distinct maxi-scooter styling complete with a muscular apron, large adjustable windshield, and a long contoured single-piece seat. The scooter’s underseat storage is big enough to store two helmets. It also comes with an apron-mounted cubby hole with a USB charging port.
The scooter is powered by a 278. 3cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. It produces 27. 3PS at 8000rpm and 27. 3Nm at 6,750rpm, linked to a CVT gearbox. Suspension bits include a telescopic front fork and twin rear shock absorbers. It uses a 260mm front and a 240mm rear petal disc brake with dual-channel ABS as standard.
Expect SYM to either partner with Mahindra or Kinetic MotoRoyale for its re-entry into the Indian market. The scooter is likely to be launched in mid-2021 at an expected price of around Rs 3-3. 5 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete against the upcoming Honda Forza 350 in the premium scooter segment.
