The top-end ABS-equipped version with smartphone connectivity gets the new colour update

Yamaha Indonesia has introduced a new colour variant to the ABS and smartphone connectivity-equipped version of the NMax 155. Called Prestige Silver Edition, the scooter is priced at IDR 33,750,000 (around Rs 1.72 lakh), the same as the already-existing Maxi Signature Black and Matte Blue colour variants.

The Prestige Silver Edition features silver and black body panels, and a gold finish on the alloy wheels and dual rear-shock-absorber canisters. In addition to the new colour, Yamaha has also updated the Maxi Signature Black with a more glossy finish on the bodywork and wheels.

No change to the mechanicals. The Yamaha NMax 155 uses a Yamaha R15 V3-derived 155cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology. It produces 15.3PS at 8000rpm and 13.9Nm at 6500rpm. Yamaha has equipped the scooter with premium features like traction control, silent starter with stop-start system, and dual-channel ABS.

Other features include a smart key, fully-digital instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity, LED headlamp and tail lamp, apron-mounted USB socket, and generous underseat storage.

The Japanese brand had planned to launch the maxi-scooter In India back in 2019, but the new safety and emission norms came as a dampener. Moreover, the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has thwarted business expansion of several brands. That said, with the situation currently stabilising, we hope Yamaha brings the scooter later this year. It will go up against the Aprilia SXR160, the only maxi-styled scooter in the 150cc category.

In related news, the Yamaha MT-15 has got a new set of colours for overseas markets, which you can read about here. The Japanese brand is also working on a range of electric scooters.
