Yamaha and Bajaj have been long-time rivals in the 150cc sporty commuter segment with the FZ-S and the Pulsar N150. Now, Yamaha has just launched the FZ-S Fi Hybrid. Both bikes cater to a similar audience but take different approaches. Here’s how they compare on paper:
Price
The Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid is priced at Rs 1,44,800 - making it Rs 20,070 more expensive than the Bajaj Pulsar N150, which is priced at Rs 1,24,730 (both prices ex-showroom Delhi).
Design
The FZ-S Fi Hybrid retains the muscular and aggressive styling of the FZ series, with sharp tank extensions and front turn signals integrated into the fuel tank shrouds. It is available in two colour options: Racing Blue and Cyan Metallic Grey.
While the Pulsar N150 shares its design with the larger N160. It has a sporty, aggressive design, and looks more compact than the FZ in overall. It is also available in two paint options: Pearl Metallic White and Ebony Black.

The FZ-S Fi Hybrid is powered by a 149cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 12.4PS at 7,250rpm and 13.3Nm at 5,500rpm. The key highlight here though is the Smart Motor Generator (SMG), which provides an extra boost during acceleration and helps improve mileage.
The N150, on the other hand, is powered by a 149.68cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing 14.5PS at 8,500rpm and 13.5Nm at 6,000rpm - making it slightly more powerful than the FZ-S. Both bikes come mated to a five-speed gearbox.
Features
The FZ-S Fi gets a 4.2-inch, colour TFT instrument console, Bluetooth connectivity via the Y-Connect app, turn-by-turn navigation with Google Maps integration, call and SMS alerts. The bike also gets all-LED lighting, traction control, side-stand engine cut-off, and a silent start system.
The Pulsar also comes with a projector LED headlight, a fully digital instrument console that displays speed, fuel level, trip meters, gear position, real time mileage, and distance-to-empty. It offers smartphone connectivity via the Bajaj Ride Connect app, allowing riders to receive call and SMS notifications. It also has a USB charging port.

Both bikes feature a telescopic fork, monoshock, a seat height of 790mm, ground clearance of 165mm, single-channel ABS, disc brakes and 17-inch alloy wheels on both ends. The FZ Hybrid gets a 100-section front and a 140-section rear tyre. While the N150 comes with a 90-section front and 120-section rear tyre. The FZ weighs 138kg (kerb) and has a 13-litre fuel tank. The Pulsar is heavier at 145kg and gets a 14-litre fuel tank.

For fat tyres, good stability, economic good looking city commuter. Bought in 2020 still using it. Though modified the seat cushion as per usage. Great looking bike since launched till now. I loved the profile at first look. I have the fzs v3 version. It's good overall bike. Bulky body fat tires look great. Seating is average for both pillion and rider. I would put it as a good city commuter. But not made for long rides. If the seats were better it would have been a king. Try the seats and a long drive above 30km first to settle down with this bike. Everything is good, but not suitable for family due to rear seat is not comfortable for ladies, otherwise performance of vehicle is excellent. Vehicle stability is good, Tcs control is good, Abs is excellent, Tyres condition is good, DRL is excellent, electricals are good, driving comfort is too good. Service cost is reliable. The vehicle is very good, and it's mileage is also excellent. It gives 50+ kmpl in the city and goes upto 55 kmpl on the highway the maintenance cost is low and this vehicle has never given me any problem also the seating comfort is very good. At this range, as compared to other bikes this bike is too good. The breaking at 100/120 is also too good. It does not wobble at that speed too while breaking. Bike also looks too good. That's why I choose this bike. The feel while riding this bike was better. As this was my first bike, it's very easy for the beginners to learn on it (if able to handle the weight of bike). Does not decrease the mileage after servicing. If ur cost range is 150 k - 170 k this is very good bike. The clutch is also not too hard too handle. Engine (149cc) is also smooth with Smart Motor Generator (SMG) assist. Handling is also good. I will always recommend this bike.
