Yamaha and Bajaj have been long-time rivals in the 150cc sporty commuter segment with the FZ-S and the Pulsar N150. Now, Yamaha has just launched the FZ-S Fi Hybrid. Both bikes cater to a similar audience but take different approaches. Here’s how they compare on paper:
Price
The Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid is priced at Rs 1,44,800 - making it Rs 20,070 more expensive than the Bajaj Pulsar N150, which is priced at Rs 1,24,730 (both prices ex-showroom Delhi).
Design
The FZ-S Fi Hybrid retains the muscular and aggressive styling of the FZ series, with sharp tank extensions and front turn signals integrated into the fuel tank shrouds. It is available in two colour options: Racing Blue and Cyan Metallic Grey.
While the Pulsar N150 shares its design with the larger N160. It has a sporty, aggressive design, and looks more compact than the FZ in overall. It is also available in two paint options: Pearl Metallic White and Ebony Black.
Engine
The FZ-S Fi Hybrid is powered by a 149cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 12.4PS at 7,250rpm and 13.3Nm at 5,500rpm. The key highlight here though is the Smart Motor Generator (SMG), which provides an extra boost during acceleration and helps improve mileage.
The N150, on the other hand, is powered by a 149.68cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing 14.5PS at 8,500rpm and 13.5Nm at 6,000rpm - making it slightly more powerful than the FZ-S. Both bikes come mated to a five-speed gearbox.
Features
The FZ-S Fi gets a 4.2-inch, colour TFT instrument console, Bluetooth connectivity via the Y-Connect app, turn-by-turn navigation with Google Maps integration, call and SMS alerts. The bike also gets all-LED lighting, traction control, side-stand engine cut-off, and a silent start system.
The Pulsar also comes with a projector LED headlight, a fully digital instrument console that displays speed, fuel level, trip meters, gear position, real time mileage, and distance-to-empty. It offers smartphone connectivity via the Bajaj Ride Connect app, allowing riders to receive call and SMS notifications. It also has a USB charging port.
Underpinnings
Both bikes feature a telescopic fork, monoshock, a seat height of 790mm, ground clearance of 165mm, single-channel ABS, disc brakes and 17-inch alloy wheels on both ends. The FZ Hybrid gets a 100-section front and a 140-section rear tyre. While the N150 comes with a 90-section front and 120-section rear tyre. The FZ weighs 138kg (kerb) and has a 13-litre fuel tank. The Pulsar is heavier at 145kg and gets a 14-litre fuel tank.

It does not wobble at that speed too while breaking. Bike also looks too good. That's why I choose this bike. The feel while riding this bike was better. - Comfortable good looking bike with good mileageI choose this bike because of Superbike looks with good mileage and more then enough performance for my use, bike is lightweight and easy to handle in city, and good fual tank capacity of 13 liters, and bright headlight.
