Most of us are familiar with the types of drive for two-wheelers. While most bikes feature a chain drive, belt drive are common amongst scooters, especially electric scooters. Shaft drives have high initial cost, and hence are used only on top end motorcycles. Well, now there’s a fourth type of drive, and it has propellers involved.

Yes, you read that right. Meet this Honda CG160 from Brazil, that boasts of a propeller drive. The 162.7cc motor is relocated from its original mount and is now positioned where the headlight would’ve been. The engine output of 15.1PS and 13.73Nm is now used to power a propeller connected directly to the drive shaft.

While keeping the rider cool during summers, this bike could also be perfect to survive a zombie apocalypse provided the propellers are made out of titanium. However, it does come with a massive safety risk to the rider as well as others on the road, as this modification has turned the modest Honda bike into a blender-on-wheels. While this may just be a novel way to showcase unique engineering, a few manufacturers did dabble on this concept, albeit for cars. The Leyat Helica is one such popular example. The first model was powered by a 1,000cc, Harley-Davidson, V-twin engine churning out a measly 18.24PS.
