Simple One Gen 2 E-Scooter: Features Explained
It now gets some really cool features such as the hill hold, cruise control and more as standard!
Recently, Simple Energy launched the updated One Gen 2 electric scooter in India. It is available in two battery pack variants, priced at Rs 1,69,999 (4.5kWh) and Rs 1,77,999 (5kWh). The Simple One Gen 2 now gets a bunch of modern features, more performance, and even more range than before. Here’s a detailed features explainer for the e-scooter:
New Battery Packs
Simple Energy has updated the scooter with more power-dense lithium-ion battery packs that offer better range from the same size of pack. The claimed IDC range for the 4.5kWh variant is 236km, and the 5kWh variant is 265km range. These new battery packs have also managed to improve the scooter's performance, and the scooter can reach a claimed top speed of 115kmph (On the top-spec variant). This battery pack also weighs up to 4kg less than the previous one.
Instrument Console
It gets a 7-inch TFT touchscreen instrument console, with smartphone connectivity, full-fledged Google Maps navigation, digital document storage, ride statistics, OTA (Over The Air) updates, and dynamic themes.
Riding Aids
The Simple One Gen 2 now gets six riding modes, with Eco X and Sonic X being the new additions to the previously available Eco, Ride, Air, and Sonic modes. Each of these modes has been calibrated to modulate the scooter's power output and throttle response, while improving its range or performance.
The scooter comes with a 4-level traction control system (Road, Rain, Track, and Rally modes) that controls power to the rear wheel, making your ride safer. It also has 4 levels for regenerative braking that helps to conserve power and improve range, depending on the level selected.
The Simple One Gen 2 also gets fall detection (Drop Safe), hill hold control (Super Hold), reverse mode, panic brake alerts (activates hazard lamps when braking hard), limp home mode, speed limiter, crawl mode, and follow-me home lights (that stay on for some time after you switch off the scooter to show the way in the dark).
Mobile App-based Features
You can now connect your phone to the Simple One Gen 2 through the Simple Connect App, and get access to a bunch of features like the Trip Insights, Super Share (lets you share the live location of the scooter), Geo-fencing (lets you set a perimeter and alerts you if the scooter crosses it), and Time Fencing (alerts you if the scooter is being used outside of the set time limit). It also gets the Ping My Scooter function, which blinks all of its indicators, making it easier to spot when parked in crowded spaces. The scooter also gets theft and tow alerts, that let you know if the scooter is moved while being locked.
Convenience Features
The Simple One Gen 2 comes with 35 litres of underseat storage (a 5-litre increase when compared to the Gen 1.5). It also gets a 1-litre cubbyhole at the front to make it more convenient, along with a USB type-C charging port.

Simple One Gen 2 is quite feature-packed, and with its price tag, it has a decent value for money. Also, for the price tag it carries, it directly rivals the Ather 450 range, but it would be interesting to see how these scooters fare in our further real-world tests.
