Drool over these detailed images of Royal Enfield’s concept bobber unveiled at this year’s EICMA

Royal Enfield took the wraps off its latest offering at the 2021 EICMA show in Milan, Italy, called the SG650 Concept. It’s essentially a precursor to the upcoming Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 bobber-styled motorcycle. We must say, the concept looks quite swanky, and here’s a closer look:

Royal Enfield has given the SG650 Concept a minimalistic bobber styling, complete with a futuristic pixel-like stealthy black gradient merging with a brushed metal finish.

The headlight nacelle looks suitably chunky with X-shaped extensions on the sides. It houses a modern LED headlamp with a unique horizontal line with the ‘R’ logo. It further extends outwards in the form of sleek LED indicators.

The wide, lowered single-piece handlebar comes with premium-looking grips with the Royal Enfield logo etched on it. The switchgear seems to have been borrowed from the 2021 Royal Enfield Classic 350 but in a metallic finish. The chunky levers are oddly reminiscent of the ones in Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Oh, and the underslung bar-end-mounted mirrors give the bike a proper sporty feel.

The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650-derived 648cc parallel-twin engine gets a blacked-out treatment with new fuel injector covers. The engine casing is finished in pixel-gradient black and brushed metal. We feel a matte black finish would’ve made it look even better. The heart is likely to be in the same tune as the roadster, making 47.6PS and 52Nm. Oh, and it also gets a delightfully retro-looking twin peashooter exhaust draped in stealthy matte black.

Royal Enfield seems to have removed the subframe altogether, tweaked the rest of the rear portion of the frame to ensure the motorcycle looks like a proper single-seater. They’re no longer the gas-charged units like the ones in the existing 650 twins. The seat gets a premium cover with the Royal Enfield logo at the back. Even the indicators have been mounted next to the shock absorbers for a clean look.

In true Bobber fashion, the front and rear fenders are chopped. The bike rolls on solid wheels, reminiscent of the ones in the Harley-Davidson Fat Boy. However, the wheels get twin cut-outs, with the grey and blue highlights exuding a neo-retro feel. The motorcycle rolls on fat Metzeler Roadtec 01 tyres at both ends. It also gets a twin solid disc setup up front, an inverted front fork, and a single disc at the rear.

All in all, Royal Enfield has made a proper brawny Bobber with a dash of retro and a dash of modern. Expect the production version to have similar styling but with more subtle elements such as slimmer tyres, conventionally styled alloys, and single disc brake up front, among others.
