When buying a conventional ICE motorcycle, we always keep in mind things like budget, skill level and taste. It helps us pick an apple from the bunch that will be sweetest for us, on our journey with it. Recently Chinese EV bikemaker Dayi launched the E-Odin, an electric motorcycle it compares to conventional 125cc motorcycles. Let’s see how this Chinese electric bike stacks up against its Desi rival, the Revolt RV 400 in images:

Design
How it looks is just as important as how it rides. Hence, both these EVs come wearing a sporty look.

The Revolt RV400 looks sleek like a proper urban streetfighter style motorcycle. Something you would see on a KTM 125 Duke. The dimensions of the motorcycle are so sleek in fact, it’s easy to forget it’s an EV.

The E-Odin wears a traditional EV look with its potbellied battery case and muscular look. The headlight structure reminds us of the Mahindra Mojo a bit with its big face and brawny tank.

Headlight

The RV400’s headlight looks like something from a modern day streetfighter style motorcycle. The all LED headlight gets two sleek DRLs guarding its borders.

The E-Odin in comparison gets a chunky, split LED headlight that features a big bird like look. From certain angles it reminds us of the old Kawasaki Z800 too. 

Battery and Charging

The Revolt gets a 3.24kW lithium-ion removable battery pack. It claims an impressive range of 156km in the most economical mode (40kmph-top speed) and as little as 80km in the most powerful mode (85kph top speed). You can charge the battery from empty in 4.5hr, and in  three hours will top it upto 75 percent.

Dayi claims the E-Odin can deliver a range of 210km using its bigger 7.2kWh battery pack and takes upto 10hours to charge using a conventional socket.

Motor

The RV 400 is powered by a 3kW motor paired to a swappable 3.24kWh lithium-ion battery. Revolt claims that it can deliver a range of 156km. With the monthly subscription scheme, the battery warranty stands at eight years/1.5 lakh km.

A wheel hub motor with 6 kW coupled with a 7.2kWh battery gives the E-odin an impressive range of 210km.  

Storage

The Revolt gets a neat little compartment for charging your phone, under which is your battery pack.
Hence you miss out on a bit of convenience there.

The E-Odin gets a small storage space under the faux fuel tank. It looks big enough to hold a wallet, a phone and other small items.

Underpinnings and cycle parts

The RV400 gets a tubular chassis and an aluminium swingarm. It features a 37mm USD fork and monoshock which help it be sporty and comfortable. It's an urban motorcycle and wears street friendly 17-inch alloy wheels with a single disc setup at the front and the back.

The E-Odin gets a more tourer look and the frame can handle an impressive payload of 296kg. It features a USD front fork and a hydraulic monoshock at the rear. But unlike the Revolt, it features twin discs at the front and a single disc at the rear.
